littlewave,
Forget about white lettering, they never touch road. But, if that's a critical point, BFG makes one. Just funning with you. 209

That was before I found out that bfg does't make white letter tires any more. If they did I would have them and would't have asked for help on locating some good tires With white lettering THAT'S WTF! Thanks anyway but another club cobra member helped me out which is what this is for. right? or wrong?

Well?...

Forget the white letters, go for Mickey Thompson S/R Radials with "flame" tread...outstanding tires for cobras.
They look great, stick like glue to the road and wear very well, unless you do a lot of burn-outs.

Thanks Bill. It looks like I will have to go without white lettering. I will look in to the S/Rs.

You can always stencil on the white letters.

Littlewave .... You mentioned that you didn`t want to spend almost $2000 for the Avons . I have Avons on my car now .... and really thought about the cost ( $1300 ) . However , after running them on the road for about 1000 miles and a little under 200 miles at SAAC 36 open track at VIR in both dry and rain .... best money I could spend on tires . However , I haven`t tried the Mickey Thompson S/R tires yet and will be curious to hear your impressions .
I`m very pleased with the Avons , but if there is something else out there that is as good for less money , I will definitely be interested .

$1300? really? I could do that. If I do the S/R I will let you know how I like them for sure. Thanks for your time and advice.

If you look at the Tire Rack you can get Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires for under $500 in the sizes your looking for. They have good reviews on the Tire Rack website. I'm happy with my Yokohama Avid S/T's but they don't make them anymore. As I remember they got about the same rating as the Firehawk tires. I had BFG Radial T/A's at one time and they had very poor traction.

Right...but why not bring up the old thread and update it? In this case, folks (and you) are still posting on it.
We have had this discussion before...multiple threads. Let's not have it again.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
