That has to be central to any updating. But I will also send this guy a note. This hobby really NEEDS a better tire than what Goodyear is offering today.

From a purely business standpoint Goodyear is losing market share to a foreign company because they are producing an inferior product! And we are all putting up with it! Call Tom Bernard and Kirkham and ask them what tire they suggest---Avon! When I spoke to Tom Bernard he told me that the Avon's are not just a better street tire; they are a better track tire as well! He said they were quicker on the track and stickier by a measurable amount. The Goodyears are like a Kardashian. Great to look at but do you really want to put up with all their bull****!

I just tried to send a e-mail and the e-mail address does not go through. Do you have another address for Greg?

I remember talking a couple years back to Coker tire about manufacturing a replica billboard tire in a radial format.
They loved the idea as well as did some quick math and saw a market potential, but shyed away because of the infringement rights associated with the billboard goodyear tire.

While not exactly on topic of this thread - does anyone have an suggestions to maintain new / slightly used billboards while in storage in my garage? They are not mounted on wheels yet. Should I keep them moisturized with tire care products of some sort?

I sent an email indicating a large percentage of the Cobra replica owners would love to have the Billboard look on their car if could be made in a street legal, DOT version.

Does anyone know how big the Cobra replica market is? I have no idea how many cars are out there and what the potential market would be. And this wouldn't be limited to just the U.S. market. Would be helpful to feed him some numbers if a reliable number is known.

Regards,

Kevin

Light and Heat accelerate the aging of the rubber. Seal them up in black plastic trash bags and keep them as cool as possible to prolong the life. I would not put any tire care products on them.

I agree you'd be much better off trying to get Goodyear to make the current BB a DOT tire then asking for other sizes etc. I love the look and don't seem to be having any concerns with mine currently. I would prefer a DOT tire, however.........

Maybe a separate specific thread on who would be interested in a Billboard DOT tire from Goodyear and give Greg the link to watch. If there is enough interest they might be willing to upgrade the tire. I for one would buy another set for DOT rating....

Yeah, one of 3000 produced Spf belongs to me and I would immediately change my tire for billboards

Agreed. I don't have my car on the road yet but will purposely wear out my tires as quickly as possible if a DOT Billboard becomes available. Hmmm...how do you quickly wear out tires on a Cobra?

Regards,

Kevin

I have a thought...

A GY BB 2.0 radial might have the same tread and sloppily stenciled logo but it wouldn't 'sit' like bias ply.
IMHO, that's the coolest part of the BB.

I was kind of dreading trying Avons because I love the look or BB's so much (slop and all) but now I wouldn't go back.

Hats off to GY for even entertaining the idea. What other car hobbyists would be interested (other than Cobras)?

AND if they were DOT legal like the Avons the whole legal issue would be lifted off our heads! I don't think this gets the attention it deserves....In speaking to Roger Kraus getting tires certified DOT legal is alot less expensive than one would think. I mean cmon, if the the Brits (Avon) can do it, why can't an American company like Goodyear?
I just composed a nice suggestive email and included a photo of my car with those tires on it. After I hit the SEND button, I received notification the email couldn't be sent because of an address problem. Dang it!

Any suggestion?

David

I'm not sure what to say except that is the correct email. If it continues not to work try calling. His secretaries name is Margaret. Very nice lady. She can give it to you.
