FWIW I first looked into WD40. It contains something called stoddards solvent. MA castings recommended the Gibbs. Said WD40 darkens over time.

Yes-I stopped WD very early on. Just did not retard oxidation for me. |

If you want to stop corrosion on electrical junctions check out Boeshield. It was developed by Boeing to stop corrosion on aluminum airplane parts. It's available at marine stores. A friend told me about it. He was tired of rewiring his boat trailer after repeated dunkings in the Chesapeake. The only thing that removes it is another application and wipe it down while it's wet! Can bore shield be used on magnesium???

I personally would not try it. I've used it strictly on electrical connections. I made my own harnesses for extra lights on my tractor. After soldering each connection, when it was cool I sprayed on Boeshield applied shrink tubing and liquid electrical tape in that order. That was sixteen years ago. I have not had a failure due to corrosion. I operate my truck in far worse environments than most Cobras will ever see! Tom

Cobrafan1 Boeshield leaves a film rather than penetrating. That's why I would hesitate to spray it on a set of mags. But for electrical work nothing better! Tom
