Default Road Trip W/MT Drag Radials

Thinking of a road trip in the Cobra and I have MT Drag Radials on the rear....I have taken a few short trips of 100 plus miles and no problems. Thinking about a trip to Mooresville,Nc from NJ weather permitting this time, about 600 miles each way.

I drive with Goodyear slicks, front and rear all the time, AZ to NV without a problem, even through the rain...

I've done multiple 300 mile trips in my car back when I had the MT's. A fellow Cobra owner did over a 1000 mile trip last year. Just be real careful if you get caught in the rain. Carry a tire repair kit in case you pick up a nail or something with that soft compound. Have fun. Cheers.

It's a big gamble. If you are willing to lose, play it!

Default Tires

My mistake was when I bought front tires (Hankook) I didn't check to make sure that they also had 315/35/17 rear tires .....

I think this is the statement of the day.

Nothing effects the performance of a car more than tires. Any rally racer will tell you that proper tire selection makes the difference between 1st and DNF.

A drag radial is not designed for long distance highway trips. It isn't designed for that kind of heat and those road conditions. If you get a little moisture, look out. Can you do it? Sure, if you're lucky you can get away with it. But I don't depend on luck.

If you want the car to perform well, choose the tires to match the conditions that you'll be driving in.
