A buddy of mine bought a set of the FIA wheels from Fran.
|
At one point you could buy "FIA" Trigo wheels and PS wheels, although neither was an exact copy, one of them included some of the small details that were on the original wheels.

As I've mentioned in the past, there's a strong possibility that I'll purchase a set of mag look-a-likes from Vintage, when the time comes to purchase a set of Avons for my car. |

Real Rodders Wheels had their new magnesium wheels on display at the L.A. Roadster show. I was told they offer custom back spacing. I don't have any other details |
For a street car, why would anybody drop that kind of money on a magnesium wheel? I go to a local car show and a guy has a Factory 5 Cobra. It is about as far from original looking as you can get. Last year I was talking with him and almost everybody that walked up asked..."is it real?". It is bright yellow with a modern interior, stereo, dual roll bars, automatic trans, 5.0l with FI, and some type of aftermarket 18" wheels. 95% or more of the population cannot even pick a Cobra out that looks somewhat real. Is anybody really going to notice your real magnesium wheels? Would they even care if you told them?
Just curious. |

To each their own or, as my wife puts it, "there's a lid for every pot". |
Where's the sense in it?
I think for some of us it's an expression of our mechanical artistic ability, to create what we think is the purist representation of the perfect iconic vehicle ,whether it's a 1932 ford or a Cobra.
It's a shame money has to ruin it. Whenever I finish a build and add up the receipts I get "Buyers Remorse" and then need to justify the expense to myself. I love driving my race cars the most, building them second. I get zero satisfaction taking them to car shows. I will continue as long as I can afford it. I come to this web site to reassure myself that I am not the only one that suffers from this affliction. Thanks for the couch time. |
They notice mine on a regular basis

I know Jeff, you've been dumping fuel on my fire for some time. Thank you.

Thanks for the interest.
The wheels that are being developed are intended for those doing a "correct" restoration. Marvic has spent a good amount of time an effort to make these wheels correct, and made to current quality standards. |
I have interest in 7.5"x15"
Will PM you |
Fred2,
Thanks for the info. But I'd like to note: if the Cobra mags are indeed accurate, then those with Wilwood brakes (like Kirkhams) will not be able to use them. The brakes interfere with the wheel. Even the new CSXs are using 'Shelby' branded Wilwoods, although I have not verified fitment issues with these, I wouldn't count on it. Just wanted to note it. If Marvic wanted to expand their market, they should produce a mag with Trigo measurments. |
Also want to add $...............
$6500 a set of 4 plus the ride...... |
Ouch!

In the not to distant past, they would have been about 2K more for the set. |
