Vintage wheels
Anyone purchase the Vintage Wheels knock offs with the Goodyear Bill Board tires, interested to know if there are any fit issues with the Wheel tire combination on a Contemporary Classic Cobra before I get them

I used them on my CCX! Great car, great fit

Vintage wheels are OK (not perfect) but the goodyears are terrible. The billboard tires look great but they are good for a year
Avons are the way to go, no side way cracking no poor tracking (I'm being nice) I tossed a set of billboards when I say soap bubble coming from the side ways after washing the car (the tires were two years old with 2k on them) spend your money wisely. |
I bought a set of vintage wheels and billboard tires 2 years ago from Bob
He is great to work with I haven’t had any problems with them I have another set of billboards on another Cobra I have had those on the car since 2010 I haven’t had any problems with them either I will say that there are probably half a dozen tires that ride and drive much better than billboards but, the billboards make the car look like it’s back in the 60’s |

I have the "bill board" style Goodyears currently on my CSX Cobra, I'm thinking I will either go with Michelin's or Avon's in the OEM sizes on another set of wheels and save the Goodyears for shows,etc. Being the Goodyears are non DOT I want to avoid any future issues having them on a street car might present.

Vintage are nice wheels. Options are PSE, or Trigo or mag. I have used Trigo as well, equal to Vintage in my opinion. PSE are two part wheels, not a favorite of mine. Not sure why everyone says BB track? I live in NE which is arguably the worst roads in the US. Never had issues, tires run true with good alignment. Avons are surely better, no controversey there. Not sure of rain traction as tread is light on Avons I have had BB for years. Treating helps but I get 3-5 years outta of a set. I would say go Vintage or Trigo My experience with Trigo was mostly when Lynn owned. If I got alloy again I would not hesitate to call Bob. |

Bob at Vintage wheels is great to deal with. Good quality with no issues over several years.

Bob at vintage was super to deal with. Spent a lot of time going around and around with my continuous emails, making sure I had the right backspacing for my FIA, working hard to interpret my chassis and wheel hub sketches. Wheels are top quality, very little R.O., casting is great, finish is very good and long lasting.
I cannot speak to any other supplier, but Bob hasn't given me any reason to consider anyone else. |
hi Racco, can you tell me where you got the vintage Goodyear lettering from? I am just about to purchase some Avons and I have the BB Goodyear stencil but really like the look of the vintage script. would really suit the look I am going for. Cheers.

I think the billboards with the rough lettering, big retro bias ply shoulders and all look great, but in this age of attorneys advertising on buses and billboards wherever you go, circling society like sharks in the water, running anything that is essentially illegal for use on the street is just asking to be bit.

Thanks racco, I went down the billboard road before and wasn't impressed. Thinking I may even get the blue line put in them too. So they are decals like the treadwear ones?
