New tires for 17 inch wheels
Advice on a new set of tires for 17 inch wheels? New to Cobra, 2 weeks and need new shoes.
|
Want same tread pattern from and back.
|
Got 315 35 rear and 245 45 front
|
I installed Mickey Thompson Comp tires 300 tread wear index. They suit my driving fine and have a clean sidewall. I don't Armchair,Computer Desk, Bar Stool, Parking lot, Track Race so they're great.
About $178 per for the 315 rears. $132 for the 245 fronts. https://www.mickeythompsontires.com/...es/street-comp |
Nitto NT05. 200 treadwear and don’t throw crap up on your fenders.
|
Awesome thanks, been looking at both
|
I put the PS2's on mine since I went with the 335's in the rear.

Where did you get the rear fender spats? And where do the attach at the top?
|
spats
I got them from ERA
|
These wheels are brand new only around the block to test them. They are for sale. I paid $3k for the rims and $900 for the tires. Ill take best offer. They are custom made for ERA. I sold the car only weeks after I bought the wheels...

I've got 17" now and want to replace my old tires. Car is new to me. A few questions for you folks:
1) how well to the MT's handle in turns? Grip when accelaring? 2) same question for the Michelin PS2's? a) what size wheels are you running on the 335 rears? I've got 315/35x17 and 245/45x17 now. I'd like to keep that size. I want the car to do it all in dry weather: go, stop, turn. I'm not tracking or drag racing it, but I like to drive it hard on the street and keep it out of the woods. TIA, |
I have Nitto NT01 for ERA I am really impress with them.

NT01 or Toyo R888 (Factory Five's recommendation). Both 100 tread compound. The NT01s are no good in the rain, but they stick really well. I had NT555s for about the first 1600 miles, but the 300 tread compound wasn't enough. The R888s are almost as good as the NT01s dry conditions, but work well in the rain. BTW, they are sister companies.
Air pressure is critical too, 22 psi cold, per FFR. It made a huge difference. I am running NT01 255/40/17 on 9" wheels front and 315/35/17 on 10.5" rear. For some reason, Discount can get the Nittos in a couple of days, but not the Toyos. Just make sure to coach them on the knock offs, or imitation knock offs. Bring never seize, knock off tools and/or tie wire with. Good luck, |
Thanks

I have Nitto GS2. Great all around street tire and will hug a curve without any issues.
