Kevin - I am interested as I need to replace my 5 year old billboards.

As for sizes, I will go 295/50/15 for the rears but what is recommended for the front to replace the 26.5x8x15? 225’s or 245’s?

Thanks

Andy

That may depend on how much tire you have in the wheel well. I have my Cobra pretty low compared to other owners, so I don't need a taller tire. Do you have a 26" on yours now ? If you have (or you can buy) a soft/fiber measure tape like what sewers use, and measure the circumference of the tire. I looked for mine, but haven't found it, so I need another one. I'll find it latter. lol

I have 235/60/15 on my front and a 295/50/15 on the rear. I'd like a 60 side wall, but I don't see any tire in the AVON or the M/T SR listed. The possible size is a 27" or 28" for my rears.

My fronts are Goodyear Eagle Billboards 26.5x8x15, which according to SASCO’s website are 26.2” in diameter, with an 11” section width and 7.9” tread width. I have about 2” of clearance between the top of the tire and the centre of the front wheel arch. For comparison, SASCO measures the Avon 245/60/15’s at 26.7” in diameter with a 9.9” section width and 8.7” tread width - my best guess is that they should fit ok.

How much clearance to the front and rear fender opening do you currently have when the tires are turned? On some bodies bodies this is an issue with a tall front tire, if it is the 225/60/15 is a better front choice.

That’s a good tip, thanks and I will check.

Not sure, I'll have to check. Trying to keep control on the websites.

I'd like to get Cobra owners from all manufactures of adding them here or AL least getting permission to post my ad. I have a feeling that if I ask, they may think I'm spamming people as I don't own their manufactured Cobra ?

I'm trying to get as many people wanting AVON tires, as the more we get, the better chance we have in getting a very good deal. Myself, I don't see spending 2k on just tires. They are a great tire and will look as close to the G/Y Billboards that I'm seeking.

Another issue is most tires are short profile/aspect ratio, not a 50 or 60 series. I've even considered the ole BF GOODRICH RADIAL T/A. I still think they look great, although not a good traction tire. Remember those guys ?
!!!. They bring back memories.....

As always with me, I want show and go. I've been looking at a few tire manufacturers like,....

Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S Tires 3454

Really like the look of Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R Tire 6654 (although they would look like a "hot rodded" on my Cobra")

I really don't need a track & street combo as I don't race anymore, but I want better traction than my G/Y Eagle ll's. But if we can't get a deal on the AVON's, I might buy the combo ?

I assume,...that this ?AVON is a bias-ply, I don't see that information ?

Kevin,
That is listed as a racing tire. It is not listed under the road legal drop down. FYI, you posted this tire/question on 6/12.

Ok guys, just spoke with Roger Kraus and he explained that the economy is has been tough on business, but...he offered 7.5% off.

I'll get the same price as all of you, but I may only get free freight, for my time. That's OK, as long as I can save some money for all of us.

To make it easier for him, he'll take cash or a check, no credit card because he gets charged for every transaction.

He was very busy to talk details, so I'll contact him tomorrow. This deal isn't final,.... it could fall through ! I just wanted to get back to you. Let me know asap if you're still interested.

So unless my numbers are off, a set of CR6ZZ apx $500 each, making the deal...

$2,000 (-)7.5% off.

= $1,850

(save $150)

Thanks,
Kevin

I spoke with Roger Krous Racing yesterday. Most tires are on backorder, but will be in in a week or two. There is a waiting list for these. I put my name on it. Not sure how that's going to apply to the rest of you, but I'm trying to get tires in time for a track day, so I needed tires ASAP.
