Guys can you tell me the manufacturer of these wheels? They look to be two piece and are 5 pin. He is running a Vet rear end if that helps. They are def not Trigo.

Not Vintage Wheels either, or at least they don’t look like mine.

mrmustang 03-06-2022 05:10 PM

Who's kit is it?
Have you pulled a wheel off to check the back for a manufacturer name?

Looks like it’s on a Superformance MKIII. Depending on chassis number could be a WAW wheel.
Back side would tell you for sure. Angle on knockoff also different on WAW wheel.

It is a hand built car, copied from an ERA. It is pretty sweet. There are a few differences when u compare it to my ERA but it looks very very good. No we have not removed a wheel yet. They have not been off in some time and are not easy to loosen.

Difficult or not, the wheel needs to come off to identify it properly.

Time to get a lead hammer and practice spinner removal. It's not all that hard.

KarlzEE Bebout 03-07-2022 08:05 AM

BFH!

Big Friggin Hammer

Remember: towards the back of the car is tightening. No righty tighty, lefty loosey. :)

Tjd 03-07-2022 10:55 AM

Looks like a insert to make it look like a knock off

Gentlemen I do realize they have to come off at some point. I have tried the lead hammer. Let’s just say it needs to be remelted now. Yes it does look like an insert that’s why I was wondering who makes them. I am surprised no one can ID them by that feature alone. At some point I will update this thread once I get them off. I guess I am gonna have to make a tool.

If the inserts are held on by the knock off itself only, and the wheels behind are actually regular bolt on items, then they were sourced through Centerline. They are no longer available, all NOS shelf items have been bought up 20 years ago, and the only way to source them now is through a wanted ad in the classifieds CLICK HERE. Yes, really.

How do I know, 15 years ago when I had ERA188, I attempted for an entire winter to source a replacement knock off splined section as one of mine had split from over-tightening by the previous owner. 6 months in, I ordered a complete knock off kit from Trigo and added them to the car. Sold the 3 left overs to a member here in a day, and for almost what I paid for the Trigo setup.

Bill this is very interesting. However the link to the classifieds don’t show the wheels in the pic. Did this company make a set that looks like the pic?

Alfa02 03-07-2022 07:26 PM

If what Bill S. said is true (When are you wrong, Bill ;) and those are inserts on Centerlines good luck finding any, Brent (EM-0785) has set on his EM, those wheels fooled everyone, I will get ahold of Brent I know he has pictures of them, on & off, he's as up on them as anybody. Be patient as he's been as busy as one arm paper hanger @ work. Cheers.

Lalmeida617 03-07-2022 07:41 PM

For the record I am not looking to buy one. I am just curious as to who made them and if they are still in business (which I believe is no lol). This is pretty interesting. While we are at it guys does anyone reproduce the above wheel in real Magnesium?

Alfa02 03-07-2022 08:56 PM

Ok if you go to post #32 on Brent post here, (LOOOOOONG Post ;) ) but it will show the wheels, Page 2 post #32, this should explain everything, you asked about those wheels. Cheers http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/cobr...ary-log-2.html

There were two different styles of the centerline wheels, I'm still not 100% sold that what the OP shows in the pictures above are the centerline wheels, as I can see the front brake calipers through the front of the rim. Not something you can really do with the centerlines. Once the OP has actually taken the wheel off (still looks like a Trigo or Halibrand 427 style to me), the castings on the back will tell the true tale.

Possibly those could be PS Engineering or ET AC-III wheels.
https://www.hemmings.com/stories/201...ps-engineering
https://www.etmags.com/ac_iii.html
Both made/make two piece wheels where the center is welded in the barrel allowing for various backspacing / offsets.

Alfa02 03-08-2022 09:47 AM

You know Bill that's what we all thought at first looking at Brent wheel, the center section looked like a shiny rotor, you couldn't see the bolts from the outside, it wasn't till you looked up closely did realize that wasn't a rotor. The cap is Alum, and the knockoff said Halibrand, in fact they are vintage Halibrand knockoff's, they even have a part# stamped on them. Brent brought an extra set (Knockoffs) off Ebay, and they came from a vintage sprint car. If Brent gets on here, he can explain much better then I, he did his homework on these. Anything is possible correct Bill ;) Cheers Tom. P.S. I think you're right Bill, I just looked on my 32" screen, and Yes I believe I see a caliper.
