Absolutely the BEST metal polish I have ever used! The outer rims of my Torq-Thrust wheels look like chrome! Not too expensive and I think it crushes anything I've used off the shelf--Mothers, Meguiars, Wenol, etc.

I've also used the "Power Ball" for a few years now. It does a great job with my aluminum and ceramic coated parts on my engine, wheels and side pipes. I bought the "Paint Ball" but have not used it yet.

cobra: Pictures of my T-Q's are in my gallery. The rims are polished, the centers are painted. I have T-Q II's that are completely polished on my GMC Typhoon and the Mr. Buffer polish and Power Ball keep them looking great with a quick hit every week or two. You will definitely be happy with the Mr. Buffer polish. I've used everything in the past but this stuff rocks!

Thanks for the input - I'm going with the polished centers on my 34 Ford, but first the billboards for my Cobra. WOOHOO!

Cobra de- I'm a auto body man & painter. I believe fully in "Mother" products. With the "Power Ball 4 Paint", you don't want the drill to have much in rpm. Nice & easy. Here is Mothers site for information. You can buy these products anywhere. http://www.motherspowerball.com/
The Torque Thrust wheels, wither they are full polished or half, the power ball works great. If you get any a surface you don't want it to be on, just use a towel with water & wipe off. I have the Team III wheels, half polished and it's so much faster & easier with the ball. Like I said with a lot of my engine being polished aluminum, I'll bet it saves me two hours of finger soreness ! It works well with my ceramic coated parts as well. HINT- only use the micro-fiber towels, and don't worry about black oxidation staining them , just wash & re-use. Since my cobra is blue, the blue microfibers are for my paint. Green for glass, yellow for interior ect..... If you use anything else that 100% cotton or the fiber towels, they will re-scratch all the work you've done on your aluminum. I'm speaking form experience here ! For cleaning the power balls, if I'm not going to wash them right away, I'll put it in a sandwich bag & twist tie around the stem and wash them later The towels I use "Oxyclean" in the wash and let them soak over night, then continue the wash cycle. DO NOT....use too much soap. I love the Oxyclean for most everything I clean. Hey, if Chip (the man) Foose, uses the power ball, I will too ! Kev |
If you're not used to polishing, you can very easily burn the paint. This polisher from "Porter Cable" is a very nice quality tool. And since it's a random orbital, seldom does leaves swirl marks. Let the polish and the weight of the tool do the work, not your muscles. Buy several pads and keep them clean. While I'm polishing my cobra, I use 3-4.
Put the power cable over your shoulder, while you're using it otherwise, it can get caught up in the machine & ruin the cord, and can even be dangerous. http://www.amazon.com/Porter-Cable-7.../dp/B00004SUQ8 Kev |
Capell and Silverback; both of your avatars make it impossible to concentrate on a thread that is mentioning 'powerballs'. Yeesh!
CV-think you own stock in Mr. Buffer-now I've got to try it too. Might give up my toilet paper for a powerball too. |

FUNFER2 - now that's extraordinarily helpful input, thanks. I'm amazed by the powerball and the fact that it cleans up so well.
I already have the port cable unit - works great. By the way..... Since my cobra is blue, the blue microfibers are for my paint. Green for glass, yellow for interior ect..... Now that's organization and needed - I often forget what I used a microfiber for and I don't want to ruin something, thanks again. |
Glad to help,................now get organized !

After a long driving season in Southeastern Massachusetts, CSX4252 cleaned up pretty well in a couple of days, including using Mr. Buffer on the Torq-Thrusts and detailing the Goodyears. Here's my display at the World of Wheels in Boston in January where the car won Best in Class.

By the way, I see you went with the gray centers, not the polished centers - reason? Are the Torq-Thrusts from American Racing? Where did you purchase the billboards? Also, what size are the wheels (width [front and back]) - I'm assuming that they are 15 inch wheels. Thanks. |
