Default Interest in "Group Buy" for Billboards Tires ?

I've been searching "Billboard" posts and will reply to this one. I have the same questions everyone else has, and find that the answers are 5050%, good and bad. How do they ride, through rocks, painting ect.....

This post is only,....if you want to be in this group buy, not a discussion about the tire it's self.

I've always liked the look, of the Billboards and I'm thinking of buying a set.

I talked with Roger Kraus about a "group buy" for the large lettered Billboards and he said he would. I have not asked particulars like, how much in savings, sizes, shipping ect.

For now, I just want to get a feel of how many of us would buy a set if the cost is right. I have to sell 10 orders. It may be that the more we sell, the better deal we can get but, I don't know yet. There's no sence bugging Roger if just a few of us are interested.

I checked with Brent and he said a advertisement for a group buy is fine. Here's his quote to me. "Lets leverage our groups buying power any way we can"
What a cool guy !

I realize their will be questions but, to keep this simple for now,.... write either yes or no if you're interested. If there is, enough interest, I will get further details about cost, shipping, sizes ect.....

Yes-
No-

UPDATE--- A DIFFERENT DEALER WILL LOWER THE COST IF 5 SETS ARE SOLD. $793.90 + shipping. PLEASE READ PAGE 3.

Yes, I would be interested. Thanks for putting this together, and I hope it works out.

I just talked with Roger, (nice man) and I don't know if this will work out. I would appreciate some mind melting, and picking of each others brains, to see what we can do for all of us.

He states that he does not make much profit in selling these tires so, the best
he can do is 5%, which is apx.,......$100 a set. But you know, that's actually a real good deal. The problem is, what to do about shipping.

This is his quote to me. "Hi Kevin, we have a racer net on the tires but would consider a small discount if you can put 10 buyers together to deliver to one location".

His business is in California so, where and how, do we settle the "deliver to one location" situation ?

And please, let's not criticize Roger, he's offering the best deal he can, and I will do my best also.

Can Santa Clause deliver to each house ?

If, for example, the tires were 250 each, and four were 1000, then 5% would be 50 dollars.

I've been in contact with Roger via email relating to this subject. Soon, I'll be hauling my Cobra to his shop to have Billboards completely mounted - I just don't trust tire shops where I live to deal with real mag wheels.

Actually, saving $100 doesn't seem like it's worth the effort - having someone to do the job right is worth an extra $100 to me.

I really wish we could find a solution with the shipping ?
That's the biggest issue now. Any ideas ?

After a little research - it appears that Goodyear Billboards are actually race tires, obviously not dot -but, used on the street nonetheless - therefore, the goodyear site is racinggoodyear.com - they have a distributor list - NE section is Carter-Maxwell, Inc in Bethany, OK.

Clearly, other distributors also have the tire - but not all of them are listed.

I did find them and left a message. We'll see what happens.

Kevin, you just aren't going to get any huge discounts on these tires. For example, cost on the rears are $232 and they sell for about $250. Even at cost, a set of 4 is only going to save you around $100. And then you have to ship them if you can't find someone local.

Even though I manage a Goodyear, the racing tires are NOT available to the retail tire stores. I still had to buy mine from a Goodyear Racing distributor. Luckily for me, I had one in Daytona and he gave me the tires for cost and I picked them up.

While I like the Billboards, and have thought about buying a set, I think I'll wait until the Yokos wear out (or get too old) and then buy the Avons.

Thanks for doing the prep work though.

Rodney - Your Yokos will age out before they wear out...unless you light 'em up. I've got 5K miles on my Yokos and they look like new.

My 9+ year old GY-GTII's had ~20K on them; they still "looked fine", but they were too old be reliable anymore. I love my Avons! They stick to the road just like my GY Slicks did when I open-tracked, yet they're radials for smooth and easy street driving.

Kevin;

I am in for a set! I am located in the Bay Area, so not a problem for me to head out to Castro Valley for pick up.

Let me know particulars...George
