Tires
Okay I know everyone is tired of posts regarding tires, all I want to know is what sizes (15inch wheels), styles and where are you buying the Avon's that you all are talking about. I have a new SPF roller and I would like to take the brand new BFG's off and replace them with a softer compound tire before I put it on the road the first time.
Thanks for the help.

why dont ya burn those up first. Look into the M/T SR's. I think there a bit cheaper, unless money doesnt matter. Make sure ya bump down the air pressure on the bfg's to about 20-22 lbs. Car will ride much better.

Thanks Sparks for your suggestion on the tire pressures. I have 275's on the rear and I am anxious to put on 295's. Hoping to recover some of the cost by selling the BFG's.

The size wont matter near as much as the kind of tire. Good luck. I can spin my tires at will in first 3 gears, your car will have much more power than mine. BE CAREFULL..

Good call in ditching the BFGs. Your car will be a completely different vehicle with the Avons--with much better traction and handling (certainly vs. the BFGs).
I run the 245s up front and the 295s in the rear (the larger tires on the Roger Kraus site).
Good luck.

Yup! I look at it this way: it's important to have high quality tires, since that is the part of the car that touches the road

The last time a car got away from me I was doing about 95MPH (Lime Rock - downhill). When the back end is becoming the front end $300.00 per (sticky) tire does not seem very expensive. The loss of control cost me $4,000 (car damage) plus broken bones.
Just my $0.02.

+1, if you can afford it. I think the back tires are $400.

nuttin' hooks like them..
I'm running the M/T ET Street drag radials, 315/35/17. They hook good enough to yank the front tires The 35 series allows for minimal sidewall flex for the twisties too.
