Yeah, they look great!
Also looks like it could be drilled for five pin if cast blank.

I'm not an expert, but I'm curious. Don't the holes appear to be to close to the center hole?

In desperation, I am attaching to this thread.
How do you start a thread and / or ask a question on a forum.?????

i've not seen Sunbursts in Mag before. But, i haven't seen everything. Just a lot.
This implies that the original designers likely did not design to mag nor test either in a lab or in practice.
The good doctor's efforts are laudable and effective as all get-out. But, i am concerned about the design limitation in cast mag. Having no evidence of testing or use, i would suggest caution until some use in racing is applied.
Wheels on race cars and airplanes are subject to serious stresses and the road to wheel nirvana is literally littered with broken parts and bones.
They are beautiful, though. i wish the good Doc all success. i would suggest a test schedule, as awfully expensive as that might be. The liabilities might be daunting, otherwise?
Others might want to also address this. Cast Mag is not automatically better than aly in any random application without proof from both analysis and testing.

Good points which is why he's working with wheel and material engineers on deciding a suitable aluminum alloy.
G Ullock go to the forum you're interested in and look at the buttons along the top.

Hey Lain,
Just wondering if there's any new news on your wheels.

I talked to the good doctor about a month ago and he was hoping to have a few sets ready to go by mid September. But, as we all know, nothing goes according to plan....
I am waiting with baited breath.
As to your concern RodKnock, I thought so too, but I measured a couple of wheels and compared them to the measurements that he sent me for the sunbursts and the measurements are the same. I think it's an optical illusion.

Morning Gents
I have been keeping an eye on this thread for some time now, as its seems tobe our only chance of getting a set of sunbursts at a reasonable price.
Any one know if the project is dead :-(
regards
Steve,...... watching from the UK.

Actually no, he has Sunbursts available. I've been meaning to call him but I've been insanely busy.

There are at least three separate threads on these wheels and, in one of them, someone quoted $975 per wheel plus shipping.

Neutral
I spoke to Lain about 6 weeks ago, he was talking around $3600 a set or $800 each. I think that's pretty good compared to the ones just on e-bay.

Reviving this old thread because I am interested in finding a set of reproduction Sunburst.
So far I have not read about anyone who actually purchased a set of reproduction Sunburst. Anyone....anyone?
