This is a general comment and I don't know all the facts but I think there are a lot of people who "want" them but don't want to shell out the cash for them. This is pure economics. There is no demand so there is no supply. Mickmate is the guy to contact on this one as I think he has the scoop.

Many years ago I was lucky enough to find a set of original Sunbursts and love the look of them on my car.
Hope you guys are successful in getting these wheels.

I think they're a great looking wheel, and for that price I could probably live with the lug nuts. Perfect for a replica.
And with a little imaginative engineering, the lug nuts could probably be covered.

Late to the party, but interested in this thread. The Rocket Racing wheels say they need splined hubs, so no lugs to worry about. These might be a fallback if I can't get 6-pin sunbursts for my street 427 build.

You may need to go back and read their website a little closer. What they are saying is that the lug nuts use a spline drive socket to secure them - instead of a standard hex socket like most lug nuts use. I assume that is due to the close clearances required by the many spokes. They do not use splined hubs.
However, they have been posted about here before and they are a decent looking replica-style wheel.

Nice looking wheels, would like to have a set, but not enough backspace for my application...plus, I'd be more inclined to buy them in a 17" for better tire choice.

I called Tony D. Branda. The original used sunbursts sold for $8k just a couple days ago. It was a set of 5. They had been in storage for 18 years.

Factory Porsche RS wheels for my MY are $8,000 for a set of 4, not including shipping from Germany. So, $8,000 for a set of FIVE 50-year old Sunburst wheels that mount on a car that sells for $1,000,000-$2,000,000 +/-, seems cheap to me.
Cheap I say!
They've got to be close to becoming unobtainium.

I still think if you're buying/building a street version ERA, CSX or Kirkham, then for $100,000-$200,000 replica, a set 5 original Sunbursts for $8K seems cheap. As I said earlier, it's all relative.
I live in the land of Google and Facebook, where their employees buy $2,000,000-$3,000,000 (or more) homes in order to scrap or mow them down and then build their mansions.  |

My opinion on price was strictly based on what these wheels exchange for, not necessarily if they go on a real vs replica, or fancy wheels people are putting on their wive's grocery getter Porches and Ferrari hatchbacks.

I believe that is actually a 1967 car with round tail lights that is beautifully restored. I used to have a link to an extensive photo gallery of the car following restoration but the link was broke a couple years ago.
