I copied this from a newsletter I received from the Tuesday Cruise Night folks:
"Tulsa is an official “car” town again. Kevan Seal from 106.1 KQLL Kool has spent time getting FCC clearance to upgrade his translator to broadcast a different music channel. “KQLL Tulsa’s Oldies station, Chrome 93.5FM is the name of the station. He is even using a car theme (Chrome) in the name of the station.
The radio business is driven from ad revenue, ad revenue is priced by listenership. Now we have real 50’s and 60’s Oldies in HD stereo right here in Tulsa. Kevan has a very deep play list (over 2000 tunes, and more are being added everyday, and it would take about five 24 hour days to play every song once). Great music.
If you like oldies music, I think you are going to love this station. You can do us all a favor and listen, then if you like it, email comments to Kevan at
kevanseal@clearchannel.com.
By doing this he will be able to forward the opinions to the “Suits” proving that Tulsa wants oldies and that he made the right decision in dealing with the FCC (anyone ever deal with the government) and most likely spending money to get this going. Kevan is working with artists on a logo (and the logo will be very car looking) and a website."
I've been listening to this station for two days now & love it (I know, it shows my age). Check it out, if you like it, go ahead & send Kevan an e-mail so we can keep it in Tulsa.
