Default TKO 600 assembly

Trans guys; a couple of questions if I may. I removed the input shaft from my TKO to get it machined a little and need to get it back in. Question #1, what lube do you use to keep the bearings in the proper place the back of the I/S while installing it? I'm assuming it's some sort of soluble grease. #2 How many of those little bastages (bearings) are there supposed to be!? I might be doing some more magnet fishing.

Thanks, Steve

I can't answer your question with a specific grease or roller count, but I would suggest you don't go "fishing" with a magnet. You'll magnetize any rollers you catch. That's not the place you want all of the metallic debris in the gearbox to end up.

A small amount of any petroleum-based grease should disperse into the tranny fluid without issue. If it's cold enough, Vaseline should work.

There should be 17 pocket bearings.

Thanks Brent.

Jim, I have no choice, some of them fell down in the trans as I removed the input shaft.
