Default Changing to 11" Clutch on 351W

Hey All,

I've got a 406 stroker, and need to get a clutch setup for it. (Have nothing) The tranny came out of a 289 mustang so I'd imagine the bellhousing will only fit a 10", but I'd like to switch to an 11" clutch

I figure I'll probably get a lakewood scattershield, so will that accomodate it no problem? Then I just need an 11" flywheel, clutch and pressure plate (that can hold on to the motor) and lakewood scattershield and be ready to go?

Thanks!
Lucas

Any specific reason why you need to go to an 11" clutch? How much horsepower are you making? There are several nice clutches from RAM or McLeod in 10.5" that will hold 500-550hp. However, I also have access to a wide variety of 11" combinations as well.

I can provide all the parts that you mentioned including the flywheel/bolts, clutch kit, Lakewood or Quicktime bellhousing, clutch fork, etc. I can quote you a price for a package deal and save you quite a bit of money.

If you would like to email me, we can discuss your specific needs. You can also reach me at 502.759.1431 if you want to talk to me directly.

I have a 10 1/2" Kevlar clutch behind over 500 hp and have never had a problem slipping. On the other hand I did twist my toploader transmission input shaft in two pieces a year ago at the drags. Some times over kill is just that and you are spending money you dont' need to spend.

Brent can get you set up with exactly what you need and he does know what he is talking about.

I have a Hays 11" racing clutch setup with Mcloud thrust race in a Lakewook shield on to a super T10 box on my 351/420W stroker and have had no problems.
Cheers,
Bryan

FWIW, I'm running a 10.5" McLeod set-up with a Lakewood shield on a torquey 351/392 and no issues to-date.

Yep, there shouldn't be any issues at all.

If you're under 450hp, RAM makes a real nice diaphragm plate setup that's really cheap. If you're at around 500-550, McLeod's Super Street Pro clutch kits are a real nice bang for the buck. Most of the 10.5" clutches are diaphragm plates, which mean that the pedal pressure is easy.

Agreed -- 10.5" is pretty big clutch, and should be fine with 400ci. -- your choices are (will be ) better/more with a 10.5" well built clutch.
