c4 circa 1966's shifter to fit cobra ???

Is there a "original style" looking cable operated shifter that would fit a c4 in my Cobra. Looking for 1966 or so style shifter like what was in Mustangs. Will an original shifter fit? I know they were rod operated.
Carroll Shelby had that style shifter in his c6 427 Cobra.

Same shifter as the 64.5-66 Mustang (non console models) should do the trick.

I might have to begin a search for the parts.
I was really concerned about where the shifter location would end up at....what with using the original shifter rod.
I would really like cable operation cause I could place shifter where needed. But I like the looks of the "original" style shifter.

Put the shifter where you want and extend the rod if you need to.........
most Mustang restoration companys should be able to set you
up with a new stock shifter........
