Default Toploader Speedo bouncing

Hey All,

I have a Toploader with the Stewart Warner speedo.

I notice that the needle bounces slightly. Is this normal with the other or is there a way of fixing this

Thanks

Most likely it's a slight kink or restriction in the rotating cable inside the speedo cable housing.

Yeah you may be right, going into the side of the toploader it makes a slight bend.

Not sure if I can correct this

Does yours bounce slightly?

If you can get it out, lube the cable. If you can't get it out raise the end of the cable that connects to the speedo as high as possible and try to get some lubricant to flow down into the housing (depending on how the cable is routed you may not be able to do this but give it a try).
Second place to look if the speedo is fitted with it is the 90 degree fitting on the back of the speedo. Mine actually has a zerk fitting on it. Ran into a little bit of a bouncing needle early on, lubed the fitting and the bounce went away.

That bend is problematic on many top loader applications. Mine DID bounce when I had a top loader. The angle is better with the TKO600 and the bounce went away when I changed trans.
