Default TKO mounting holes

Oh damn, before I go and do it, thought I would ask first. The scattershield has 12MM threads and the holes in the TKO are not that big. I am gonna ream them out to fit the BH. This a super bad idea or pretty common. Should i just go to the 12MM hole diameter or go ahead and move to the next size...1/2"? Thanks
Jaime

I personally wouldn't hesitate to drill it to either size.

351C, Mcleod scattershield, TKO. Emailed Mcleod and they said the BH was supposed to be 7/16 threads. Nope, 12MM. The 7/16 bolts are real loose in the trans holes so 12mm is not a big jump.

I would check the bolts again.

I remember when I first built my cobra I had a Mcleod bellhousing on my 342 I had to drill out the holes on my tremmec 3550 trans. I have since installed a fore fe stroker and my quicktime bellhousing uses the smaller 7/16 bolts?.

AH HA!!!!!! I feel better! It is indeed a TKO but the metal tag says 3550 also. The numbers reveal it is a TKO. Not a 5 or 600 though. Thank you very much for the reply. I no longer feel (as) stupid!

HUH? Like calling a bolt a 7/16 just because a 7/16 wrench fits on it like MANY knuckleheads do?
