Diff is blown for sure. You didn't try turning the pinion? With a limited slip like yours you should be able to turn any of the three and have all 3 turn together.
I'm not a big fan of the Belleville washer style clutches. I think this might be the way to go.

OK, here's an update.
First of all, I think pulling the diff on a CSX might be easier than dropping a full size lakewood bell from a CSX. Maybe. Huge PITA. Glad I got to do both in the last few days. No way to "pop the cover and take a peek" at all.
Anyway, my "clutch" problem is solved - I sheared one of the stub axles (left rear) . I was impressed with the beefy Dana rear end in these cars (yes Pat it has 4 spider gears), but a little surprised at the puny stub axles.
Dana rear end
Spider gears
Broken axle (diff is upside down on table, it was left rear)
Any suggestions on how to upgrade the axles? There's a local shop here that specializes in Jag rear ends and can do the work, but guidance on upgrades would be helpful.

Call Reider Racing to see if they have heat-treated parts available for that rear.

Reider went out of business a few years ago, I believe. So did Concours West. I think your best bet now is Michigan Driveline.

My bad-forgot that. Ask Putnam, I think that's who they use.

~2000 rpm, billboards @ 20psi. Shouldn't have broken, but the axle seems to be the weak point. I don't see how I'd ever shear one of those spider gears.

I think these were only 28 spline.

I got news for you, all the splines in the world wouldn't have saved that stubby. You might think about replacing the one on the other side, too. Seriously, if it were me, I'd pull the good one out and send it, along with the broken one, to D-Cel and have him tell me why the broken one sheared and have him test the good one for it's strength. There's a bunch of CSX owners out there that would thank you for that information.

I plan on replacing both with upgraded parts. I have a call in to Michigan Driveline and also came across Summers Brothers ( Summers Brothers - Manufacturer Of High Performance Axles For All Of Your Racing Needs!), which seem decent too (any of you CA folks know them?). EDIT: I thought the Summers Brothers 35 spline axle with a 5 yr warranty against breakage from drag racing was interesting. Interesting suggestion with having D-Cel test the one that broke. I might just do that.
Just as an FYI - if I had broken a half-shaft instead, can these be replaced by disconnecting them at the joints and not removing the hub? Not that I'm planning on doing that or anything.

Didn't they have a variety show back in the 60's? You know, Tom & Dick were their names....

I know ERA can put in "monster" stub axles, if I pay them to do it, so they have to get them from somewhere. I would call Bob P. up, tell him who you are, and ask him where ERA gets their super heavy-duty stub axles now that CW is out of business. He'll tell you, I'm sure of it.

Doug, glad you found out the problem.
your horsepower and trap speed are not jiving.
What kind of traction did you get off the line?
Were you hazing the tires down the track?
Make sure your throttle blades are opening full.
