tko 500
I see that tremec make two different tko 500 for a ford engine. One is tcet 4615 and the other is tcet 5201, other then the number of splines on the input shaft is there any other difference in them and is one better then the other.

Don't they have different fifth gear ratios?

One is a 10 spline input, the other is a 26.
If you don't have a clutch yet, I would advise on skipping the 500 and spending the extra $90 for the 600. Then you get the option of two different overdrives, plus 100 lb-ft more torque capacity.

When I bought mine had two options in OD ratios. We talked about it's torque capacity it was as good or better than the toploader that was in the car.Besides the car only weighed 2700 lbs.The 600's were not out then.

What Brent said. Spend a couple of extra dollars and get the TKO 600. That way, 6 months down the road, when you are doing engine mods to satisfy your horsepower jones, your transmission will already be up to the task.

One of the 600s has a 2.97 1st gear which I needed for my 3.55 rear gears and 26" tires.
the 500 has a 3.27 1st gear, good for 25 -30 mph and lots of tire spin for me.
