Jon,

Yes, I bought my TKO 600 from Bob Hanlon and have been to his shop a few times. I bought it with the carbon fiber blocking ring and Pro 5.0 Shifter upgrade. Since this is my first Cobra I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm very happy with the way it shifts and feels. I don't have a high-revving engine so maybe didn't need the blocking ring upgrade, but it wasn't that expensive so I went for it.

By the way, Bob is a great guy and knows his stuff. No brainer for me since he's local.

- Internal Shift Linkage Upgrade
- Liberty's Exclusive Threaded Front Cluster Bearing Support
- Carbon Fiber Blocking Rings—2nd, 3rd & 4th Gear

Brent Lykins also has a Sure Shift upgrade for around the same price. I am not sure what is in that package.

Since I am buying a new trans for my car I could get it upgrades already installed and avoid having to pull the trans if I wanted it done?

Searching the internet indicates
- This trans varies a bit and experiences differ.
- Needs to be broken in
- Is difficult to shift from 2-3 fast
- I also read here that unless you are shifting over 6000 RPM upgrades do not help

There is also conflicting information on shifter upgrades.

Any experiences?

I know Brent Lykins works on these, I am hoping he will chime in.
Bill, I bought the entire Liberty "upgrade" package a couple of years ago. I live in CA and wasn't keen about the shipping cost out and back. I bought the parts and did the work myself. It takes about four hours if you have never had one of these things apart before. The Tremec manual makes the job much easier.

The threaded bearing support requires a mill and more than average skills. If you go for the bearing support (a good upgrade) you will probably want Liberty to do the deed unless you have access to the machinery necessary.

The 2 to 3 shift problem is a transmission gear interlock problem as explained to me by Liberty. Their internal linkage upgrade addresses the timing problem quite nicely. While I have never seen Brent's solution I suspect it is similar and works equally well.

If you are within driving distance of Liberty, drop the trans off and pick it up later letting them do the work for you. This upgrade is a no brainer (after you have experienced it) and you will forever be glad you did it. BTW I strongly suspect everything I have said about Liberty mod package is equally true of Brent's TKO600 mod package.

I'd just get a toploader.

Close ratio - get 3.50's to 3.70 rear gears

wide ratio - get 3.0 to 3.30 rear gears
