Default clutch slave cylinder

Dear All:

the clutch slave cylinder of my Cobra Superperformance is leaking. My car workshop is unable to find a replacement part. I have a picture of the old one which I cannot upload for some reason, but I can send it. The only designation on the cylinder is "S38".

Can anyone help?

Best, Udo

Udo,
You can't upload the pic because you're too new to the forum. Try to message an administrator.
There are LOTS of slaves that can/will work. It's always easiest to replace it with the same part but the manufacturer of that part may change.
I once had a slave on a Cobra that was from an Isuzu/GM pickup. That part went bad (it was made in USA, btw). I went to get a replacement and it was made in China and visibly 'sloppier'. The casting was a step down from the original and the rubber boot wouldn't stay on.
I suggest you call Mike Forte from Forte's Part Connection and get one of his CNC slave and bracket setups. They're very well made, work great and replacement parts are readily available.

I replaced mine many times. Just took the old one out and matched it to one in the Napa catalog online. I think it cost about $13.
When I changed engines and tranny, the old bracket wouldn't work so I bought Mike Forte's complete bracket and slave. Works like a charm. Very sturdy and easily adjustable. Just make sure you match the bore to the master cyl.

Default Internal Slave

I didn't want to but my mechanic talked me into an internal slave and WOW....what a difference in shifting, etc. I would be interested in hearing what others think about this. For sure it's not going to be as easy to get to as the older one if need be but so far so good! I guess time will tell.
