Default American Powertrain Hydraulic Throwout Bearing

New project, and I know I can always get the info I need from all of you, and believe me I appreciate it.

I wanted to ask if any of you have installed an American Powertrain hydraulic throwout bearing on a Treme 500 Trans to a Ford 460? If so, did it go as smooth as their video makes it out to be?

Anxious to hear what you have to say. Thanks.

Jeri

I don't know about the brand you mentioned but I have installed a RAM hydraulic throw out bearing and I'm completely satisfied with the results.

No idea what brand is in my Cobra, as I'm the 3rd owner of the car. I do know, that whatever is in my car, has no provision to bleed the air out.

I welded flanges to my headers and side pipes. The flange was a bit too close to the hydraulic line, going to the through out bearing, and it cooked the oil to a gas. So, I rerouted the line. No fricking way to bleed it. I had to cut and weld a special wrench to loosen the flex line fitting to bleed it.

So two thoughts for you. One, make sure it has a way to bleed air. Two, realize that if it every fails, you must pull the trany to replace it. Slave cylinder and standard bearing, with a fork, is at least accessible.

Have not tried the American Powertrain one. Installed a McLeod HTOB on mine and it was fairleasy, and it does include a bleeder and bleeder line which makes it much easier.

I had more than a couple failures with a Mcleod HTOB. It was always very difficult to bleed the air out. Switched to conventional external slave and fork. Happy with the change. Worth every nickel. To say I'm not a fan would be correct but other brands might have better results. Good luck!!

I have the factory GM on my T56 and it works great. I had an external slave previously and never really had any problem with it either.

Personally, do whichever is easier and cheaper. I really do not think it matters in the long run,
