Default Auto trans

Hi guys,
What are the recommendations for an automatic transmission like a C6 and costs.
The motor is a 514 stroker.
Thanks

Hi cobish,

Guess what I am using

There's a "built" C6 behind my 521 and I love it! I also have an EDGE converter with about a 2200 stall speed and a 2.88 Powerlok Jag rear.

You may want different specs depending on your intended usage, cam characteristics, tires and axle ratio.

I've got a Crane hydraulic roller cam and Holley EFI which probably knock 100hp out of the original 600, but I hope it'll be a lot more durable and tractable on the street.

Only got 4000 miles so far so we'll see.
I will say this: from a standing start it gets to 100mph faster than you can say it, and if you "lean into" the throttle a little too hard or too early, the whole car drifts to the right

This is with 315-35/17 Michelin Pilots on the back, not those "traction-free-smoke-em-up" BFGs that a lotta folks use.

And what a gorgeous sound!

What cam/axle do you have? Lotsa street use or mostly track or ???

Regards,

Tom

PS: Just noticed you are in PA. The trans shop that built my C6 is in Southern PA somewhere around York(not sure exactly?), Jim Sanders at 717-417-3345 if you want an estimate.

Thumbs up

Hi,
I have run a GER street / strip C-6 and 2800 stall converter for 4 years now.17,000 miles and 120 drag strip passes. This thing is bullet proof. GER is Precision Industries in PA. Goerge E Reynolds is an old racer from way back, I will get my next tranny if I need one from him also. You wouldn't believe the S*** and abuse this C-6 has taken.
I also use a B&M quicksilver ratchet shifter, just bang one gear at a time without looking......who says autoboxes aren't fun?......just the poor guy behind you with a clutch.
Perry.

I don't know if there is enough room to fit a C-6 into a SPF. Better do some measuring.

Good point, Mr. F!

If that is the case (unintended pun), another option might be a built C4. They're in a smaller package and might be more likely to fit.

I HAVE A 4AODE IN MY EXCALIBUR. DANA BRISCOE INSTALLED A COMP. SHIFT KIT AND DID SOME OTHER "TWEAKING" - - (THERE'S A HIGHLY TECHNICAL TERM FOR YOU).

I LOVE IT !!! THE ENGINE IS A MODEST 302 EFI MAKING "MAYBE" 280HP. REAR END RATIO IS 3.50. IT CRUISES AT 70 MPH AT 1900RPM IN OVERDRIVE. IN THE "TWISTIES" I SWITH OFF THE O.D., DROP IT INTO SECOND AND HAVE GREAT CONTROL.

A REAL FUN CAR TO DRIVE - - LETS ME KEEP MY SANITY IN TRAFFIC ALSO.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY.

BLACKJACK
