Default Correct Shifter question

My 289FIA has a Tremec 3550 with a Hurst shifter. It is functional, but is too tall. After being in Monterey and seeing all the real 289 Cobra's and their shorter shifters (with T-bar Handles), I think I'd like to have one a little more original-looking. Does anyone offer the 289-style shorter shifter for the Tremec, or am I going to have to get the cutting torch out???

Thanks,
Russ

I had the same problem. I cut it down about 1-1/2 and welded it back together. Now I'm Happy. There migh be other shifters out there but after I spent about 60 buck on the one I had I was not about to buy another one.

Good luck

Thanks for the referral. I checked out the website, but I should have clarified that I want the straight-style short shifter, and Kona only offers the Mustang-style bent-shaft.

Russ - My 289 shifter is cut and welded as per Jams Suggestion, the rubber boot easily covers the weld.

I have a short t-shifter straight that I'm not using...
