Ok, I did the Driven Gear change. It was not too hard at all. Actually, the hardest part was figguring out how to get the bolt out as there is not too much space in the tunnel to work on this. I used a 7/16 socket on a universal joint on an extension. That did it nicely. Once the bolt that holds the retainer was out and the retainer moved away, then I pulled gently and tugged on the cable to no avail.

So after a cup o coffee I just got in there with gloves on and gave it one nice firm pull and it popped out. Surface tension was hoding it in. The gear pulled off and the new one was in jiffy quick.

Thanks for all the advice and guidance Guys.

Cheers.

I'd hate to be in a position of disagreeing with ERA, but according to the article about this on the Boss 302 site (http://www.boss302.com/speedo.htm), if your wheel diameter is 26", you need the green tip (18 tooth) driven gear. Southern told me the same thing (use the white/pink) and I don't think it's correct either. steve

Art, Steve,
We had the 18 tooth speedometer driven gear made so you do not have to struggle to find it in the future.
