Converting Speedo pick-up
I got a new T5 HD from my brother. Turns out it has an Electronic Speedo Pick-up instead of the mechanical gear set-up. Has anyone converted such a set-up on their tranny? I have a new Backdraft car with mechanical autometer gauges. Any info on converting this would be greatful. Thanks:confused: :) :)

Get the electronic Autometer 0 - 160 Sport Comp speedo. Calibrates easily, set it & forget it.
Hey, not original but 35 years ago, Shelby took what he could get. Today, we don't have to compromise to get what we want, and 'Ol Shel would give his left nut and #1 piston for what we can select from today.

Ok maybe I missed something. Doesn't the sensor come out and have a gear on it? As I recall the hole is the same size as the standard Ford speedo cable. Or if you take out the little plug on the end a late model cable will plug into the back of the sensor right? That is the way the 96 trans I have is made.

The sensor does come out of it, but it is an enclosed cylindrical capsule with a magnet tip that measures the pulses of the rotating sprocket mounted on the tranny shaft. It does not have a gear at all. It is totally non contact. The sprocket will need to be changed with a gear and the speedo cable adapter will have the other gear on it I guess, to make it mechanical.
I'll have to check Autometer for a price on the electronic speedo, maybe it is less than the conversion. I would like my gauges to match though.
