Very much thank you for info on this.

Although at 100$ more, the Quicktime seems to be the best bet for an SFI- approved unit, then.

Although; an non SFI quicktime will give same security & even better clearances and maybe also lighter weight.

If you will be racing, swing for the SFI version... A lot of sanctioned events want to see the SFI version at tech inspection.

Hey guys:

A quick question on dialing in the bellhousing. Is it 0.005" total indicated runout or is it plus or minus 0.005"? I just checked mine today (new Quicktime on a 428 FE) and I've got 0.008" TIR. That's close, I know, but if the spec. is 0.005" TIR, I'm going to have to do some work!

Thanks,

I'm trying to remember what Doug at ERA told me they liked to see, and I'm pretty darn sure it was less than the oft-quoted .005 number. But I just can't remember. But here's a quote from the Kirkhams on it. Apparently they like to get down below that number as well. If you click on the link below that will take you to their assembly manual page where they did a dial in on a bellhousing and where I grabbed that quote.

Quote:
The bell housing needs to be centered to within 0.005 TIR or Total Indicator Reading. This reading is 0.006 TIR in the up and down axis and 0.003 in the right and left axis. We try to get them to 0.002-0.003 TIR. So we will move the bell housing slightly.

Hi. One more on bellhousings.

I've been offered a Mc Leoad 8660 BH. The seller has weighed it for me and it equals to 19 kg's.

19 kgs= 41lbs

That seems alot. The Quicktime is listed 22lbs. Half the weight.

Is this correct?

It looks as the 8660 is a SFI- approved unit as well?
