Smile T56 Shifter relocation help

I've read some threads on relocating the shifter on the T56. I can't seem to locate the information using the links provided. Can anyone help with finding this information? I found a place that has the parts, and would do all the work. But they have a 6 month waiting list. Would could some help.....

Thanks,

Nick

Thumbs up

I purchased my T56 tranismission and had the shifter moved to the forward position by Shafi Keisler at Keisler automative. http://www.keislerauto.com/ I also added a Tilton hydrulic through out and Keisler could have preped the adapetr plate to recieve the Tilton. Keisler was working on his own hy through out bearing and it may now be available. Also Mike Forte listed in the advertizer list on this web page can do this work.

Hi Nick
a number of us down here in Aussieland have done the conversion. Send Aussie Mike a PM and he will set you staight on doing it yourself. Its not too bad if you can use a grinder & hammer(just kidding) but Mike is great on advise in this area.
Cheers Leeroy

Thanks for the help. I did call Keisler but they had a long wait. I'm fairly handy with a hammer, so maybe Aussie Mike's info will help me out. What rear end ratio are you running? I'm running a Ford 9" that needs rebuilding. 6th in this trans is .50 to 1. Just got my Midstates chassis last week, the engine will be here end of june. It's been many years since I've done something like this.... Last cool car I had was a new 1969 Mercury Cyclone 428CJ... I'm sure I'll need more help...

Thanks,
Nick

Nick, I put 3.55 in my rear end. I think this should give me a kick ass 1'st, 2nd and 3rd but still give me great performance in 5th around town and 6th for the freeway cursing.

You should know that for the shifter to work in the forward position you ill have to move the internal linkage up from the rear. Good luck.
