Default second to third

I need help.....
I have a toploader recently rebuilt by D Kee (the innards are all in working order). Here's the problem... when I get hard on it I have trouble going second to third. Sometimes it just won't go. I figure it must be a linkage problem... any suggestions on the fix?

Hi, I am not an expert, but I had several Borg-Warner T-10 transmissions and a couple of top loaders back in my first hot rod years. Every one of them that I ever had problems with moving up or down between 2nd and 3rd was a linkage issue. Even a couple of Hurst Competition plus shifters had the same problem. Usually I found out during the post-mortem that I bent something with a bit too much enthusiasm. Normally a careful readjustment will solve the problem; although once I had to replace the 2 - 3 synchro's. Kee would be my first stop on the advice trail...no sense chasing something he probably can diagnose via a psychic!

I wonder if the clutch is totally releasing or hanging up just a little due to high rpm loading on it?

That's what I was thinking Ernie....I was trying to think what would keep it from going into gear.....if David Kee just rebuilt it and replaced the synchros, then I would almost 100% eliminate that.

I'm with the other guys......it's probably a linkage problem....or a clutch release problem. Is your clutch hydraulic? If so, is the slave cylinder mounted to something other than the engine?

Thanks guys,
George Anderson put in a new clutch at the time the tranny was reworked. I think it must me linkage becuse as the rpms come down with a little persuasion I can get it in gear. I'll call D Kee next week.
