Default Who makes the repro casting for the T-44 Transaxle?

I heard there was someone who makes the reproduction castings for the toploader based T-44 transaxle. Any idea who makes them and how much $$$?

Thanks, Chuck Brandt

Have I got a deal for you! (We bought the original tooling some years ago.)

I'll have to confirm with Peter, but I think that a full set is about $6000.

Includes these castings (no machining):

COMPLETE SETS OF CASTINGS
INCL: TRANS & DIFF CASTINGS
AND ALL COVERS AND INTERNALS.
MAGNESIUM AZ92A-T5 FOR CASES AND
COVERS, BRONZE CDA955 FOR INTERNALS

Default Got pictures?

Can you post or e-mail me some pictures of the castings? I've never seen one. Do you need a new longer inputshaft?

Thanks, Chuck

Chuck,

I'll take some pictures Saturday AM.

Yes - you need a custom input shaft. The ring and pinion gears are also custom. The last quote we got was $4500 for the set.

I took a bunch of pictures of an original box so we could figure out how to put them together again. Posted here.

The raw castings look like this.

Default Thanks!

Thanks Bob!
These are the certainly the best, and almost only pictures I've ever seen of this significant piece of equipment. The price is daunting but it should be bullet-proof.

Default Hmmm....

Hey,
Is that an oil pump on the end of the transmission? Sure looks like one to me.

Yes, that's an oil pump, driven from the transfer gear.
