Default Ford top loader speedometer error

I have a 289 in a 427 body with a 4 speed top loader.
I just got a ticket for doing 5 mph over the posted speed ($125.00)
I took a hand held GPS and the car shows 10 MPH faster than the speedometer says. I have the old gear and cable system, however, my neighbor said i can get a different gear to put in the transmission.
My question is how can I tell what kind of gear to put in and where can I get it?
Thank you

The ERA manual should be able to help you out on the gearing & I bought mine from National Parts Depot.

Ray, you can get the different speedo gears from either Dan Williams Toploader or David Kee Toploaders. But, if you have a programable speedo, it doesn't matter what gear you have.
