Default tail shaft leak

I have spf2275 with a little over 300 miles on it and it has a small tail shaft leak. The leak looked to be coming from the rear seal and after removing the seal we noticed a small crack in it. The bushing looked fine so I had a new seal installed and it still is leaking a few drops. I have driven the car about 30 miles on the new seal. It only leaks after a drive and the car sits for about 15minutes or more. Any suggestions and how big a deal is this?

Its not really a big deal as long as you maintain your fliud level but it is a bit messy and an annoyance. With only 300 miles I think you would be happier if you get it taken care of.

If your yoke is not new it may be slightly worn at the point where it contacts the seal allowing a little so seep out. To fix it you would have to replace your yoke.

If you have a dial indicator you can also measure the play between your tailshaft bushing and the yoke, there is a specific specification that this play must meet or it will also cause some leaking from vibration and may have caused the crack in your seal.

Thanks for your input. I am going to follow up on someone else's advice as well and going to check the welch plug at the end of the shaft to make sure it's flat and seated.
