Reverse Lockout????
Had my W/R toploader rebuilt by a local tranny "EXPERT"
Now when I shift with minimal force into 1st. gear I get a "grinding" after it is in gear & I continue to exert forward pressure on the lever.
If I shift quickly into first it will not only grind but will lock up---car will not move.
Sooooo removed transmission once again, while checking the shift levers etc. I discovered I can shift into 1st. then move the reverse lever & engage reverse, the trans of course then becomes locked up ( in 2 gears @ once )
I suspect that my "REBUILDER" has neglected to install a lockout & the trans is slipping into two gears ( 1st. & reverse ) at the same time.
Does that sound like a correct assumption?????
Also when shifting out of first gear under full power -6000 RPM it binds up & will not come out of gear untill I let the RPM drop & the car to slow a lot.
The others shift OK.
I don't have a clue what would be causing this.
Bellhousing dials in to .003
H.T.O. adjusted & working OK
Roller pilot bearing OK
Hurst shifter set up & working OK
Driveshaft not binding
Any help with these problems would be appreciated
