Default Tremec TKO Shifter Location

I had help with a gentlemen installing my transmission today and upon looking at it seems that in my ERA it sits about 1 inch left of center on the transmission tunnel. I talked to the experts at ERA and it seems like this is the case for these cars.

My question to your transmission experts is:

1)..did the original comp cars have the shifter boot perfectly located in the center of the tunnel?

2)..if so, is there an easy way to move this with a new shifter plate...and if so how much might that cost me?

Mine is a little to the right, but not that much. Remember that your engine/trans do not sit plumb smack dab in the middle of your car. But I know how something like that can start to bug you. Here is a shot of mine taken from straight up. Note that the shifter is in neutral in this shot (the only safe way to park a Tremec ). If the shifter was centered in the middle of the ring for neutral that would move everything over to the right quite a bit.

You can have a special off set shift top made for it, that would run you $125.00. But you would want to know exactly how far to the right you need to go from the centerline of the transmission. jimig@standardtransmission.com
