Default Tranny oil quantity

I have a TR 3550 and will purchase two quarts of the GM synchromesh fluid. This will be more than adequate, won't it?
Thanks, John

Fill it until it overflows. I've had good luck with Redline MTL. www.redlineoil.com

Actually the TR3550, along with the TKO's holds 5.28 pints which equals almost 3 qts. as stated above fill it until it comes out the fill hole. jimig@standardtransmission.com

Jimi G,

Don't mean to hijack this thread but I saw your avatar & have a question you can probably answer.

I have a 1984 T-5 in my Cobra, what do I use for tranny fluid? Some people say ATF & some tell me 70 wt. oil.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Randy

I was wondering if two quarts would be enough. I'll buy three.
Thanks.
John

John I would also recommend useing Amsoil sycromesh fluid it seems to work the best. jimig@standardtransmission.com

Randy use the ATF, 70 wt. will cause the transmission to fail alot sooner then intended, the ATF fluid works better with the sycros internally in your transmission. If you have anymore questions on your transmission just let me know. jimig@standardtransmission.com

Jimi G,

Thanks for letting me know. I kept getting different answers from different people & I didn't know which way to go.

Thanks again,
Randy

No problem Randy, there are alot of people still stuck in that old school mentality of useing 90 wt oil in there trannies but the new ones just won't take it. jimig@standardtransmission.com

Tremec has a good web site where you can download all kinds of info on
their transmissions including shop manuals, specs, etc. I was able to get
plenty of info on my T-5z, including quantity and type of fluid - Dexron III
ATF, slightly less than 3 quarts before it starts running out - as others have
stated, for mine too.
