Default Looking for a 5-speed

Hello,

My Cobra currently has a Borg Warner T-10 behind a SBC 350. I'm looking to put a 5-speed to get a few MPG on the highway. I've found a variety of transmissions, some from Mustangs and others from various Camaros. The GM versions all say World Class, but the Mustangs apparently were not. Is there any easy way to identify one 5-speed from another? Would any of them bolt up to my existing bellhousing as I really don't want to mess with replacing the slave cylinder and other pieces.

Thanks in advance.

I would recommend the TKO600 it will take all the power you can throw at it and it will bolt right up in place of your T10. It will come with a 26 spline input so you would possibly have to change your clutch disk to a 26 spline disk. The only other difference you will run into is that they are an internal linkage transmission unlike your T10 which is an external linkage transmission. Basically your shifter is offset 2" towards the drivers side and the TKO will come up in the center. There are off set shift tops or you can just open up the hole in your tunnel a little bit. jimig@standardtransmission.com

To get optimal crusing mpg, you should be using a vacuum advanced distributor.

What rear end gearing are you running?

Using a vacuum advance already. Rear gears are 3.31 supposedly. I never really jacked it up and checked it out.
