Default Does anyone know about Spec Clutches?

Does anyone know or is using one of these clutches in their car?

Not in my cobra but I had one in my mustang. They are a good product very well respected in the mustang community, I cant see why it would not work in a cobra as well. Not sure what HP you are running but I had about 450 in my mustang and I ran a stage 2. The stage2 plus model was not available.

I put in a SPEC stage 3 clutch in my car with a McLeod aluminum flywheel. It worked really nice for the few thousand miles I drove the car.

You can see the clutch being used for an off idle start at the drag races in my signature. The clutch never slipped and worked great. My car was about 2550lbs with me in it and had about 475 HP at the wheels, 28 inch tall tires with 3.73 gear.

Cobrakc,

I put one in my lastest car. Have not used it yet. I did stop by the factory in AL to talk to them when I bought it. They took me around the operation and showed me what they did to make their product. I picked up an aluminum flywheeel and a steel diaphram single disc system. What I thought was interesting was they recommended the aluminum flywheeel but talked me out of the aluminum diaphram unit. Reduced their sales dollars because they thought I would be happer with the weight of the steel unit on the street. This impressed me as they were actually concerned with what they thtought was best for me and not upping the sale. That's my incounter with them so far.

I've been running a Spec Stage 3 clutch in my Cobra since my last rebuild (about 5.000 miles ago). During that time, I've run my car on about six track day events. The clutch works fine. The only drawback is that it shudders a little if I try to ease in the clutch slowly while leaving a stop sign. It perfers to be either fully engaged or disengaged.

I'm running a Spec Stage 3 with a Yella-Terra lightweight billet steel flywheel. It's been great so far. No shudder and put a fairly abrupt takeup (Didn't take long to get used to though).

The stage 3 is a copper ceramic button style friction but with a sprung center.

Here's mine before I fitted it.

Cheers
