1983 T5 NON World Class Tranny behind a 1989 5.0
First, I apologize if I am bringing up an old topic but I am confused.....
I am running a 1983 T5 tranny that supposedly went to a race shop in California for a bunch of work (over a grand?) and then only spent a couple of weeks in a1983 5.0 GT Mustang before the car was totaled. I received the tranny and took it to a local tranny shop and had it checked over for any damage, luckly none found. I am getting ready to fill the tranny, with I understand between 2.5 and 2.8 quarts, depending on who you listen to, and am somewhat confused on what to use. I have read and searched all kind of sites and threads and get gear oil, regular oil, synthetic oil, and automatic tranny fluid. As stated it is a NON World Class, so I'm not positive on the ATF fluid, but was thinking of using Amsoil ATF Fluid for the fill. Any input would be appreciated....
