Being that I am a 2x virgin, new Cobra and new to New Jersey, I was wondering if anyone could help me with a couple of things. First and most importantly how does one go about getting info on your Tri State Club. And secondly could someone give me some heads up on how to title and register this beast. Looks like this is a hot topic since TU is having some problems. On the surface it appears that a collectors status is the cleanest way to title it in NJ. Or does anyone have a better way?

Thanks in advance for the guidance

Craig

Cool

Hey Craig,

Welcome to the state of confusion (that would be NJ). The Tri State Cobra Association is a very loosely organized group of enthusiasts....We meet when we feel like it, and where we feel like it.....usually with only a few days/weeks notice, as there are many members, but only a handful that are truly active.......... The old web page is at the following url:

http://tristatecobra.freeservers.com/

As for NJ registration and inspection...Most of the loopholes have been closed due to the do diligence (I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV) of the NJDMV....However, the new "collectors" "limited useage" registration seems to be the hot ticket for just about anyone who will not put more than 3,000 miles on their cars in a year.............

Hope you find this helpful.

Yours in NJ Fords,

Bill S.

PS: Where in NJ are you located?????????????????

Hey Bill,

Thanks for that quick reply. NJ the state of confusion, you got that right especially here in the thriving metropolis of Secaucus. This Florida boy can also do without the winter.

I like the concept of the Tri State Club. Nice and laid back, I think I can handle that. Please count me in on most any activity you can come up with. My car doesn't deliver until May, actually hoping to get the title and car at Carlisle, but would be more than happy to be a spectator until then.

One last thing. Do you have any thoughts on how to prep a 351W to do mutliple activities? The initial feedback I was getting was to stroke it to 396. That would give it enough torque to get out of the hole ok, but still be reliable enough for long distance cruizing.

Craig,
If you are into road racing your Cobra then join up with Club Cranky, located right here in Central NJ and seen at a lot of race tracks on the East coast. We are not an official club, just a group of Cobra replica owners that prefer to do open track events and eat lot's of food and drink lot's of booze AFTER the days track activities are over. We come from Mass. CT. NY. NJ and other places near and far.
We don't do many car shows but occasionally we show up to have a look and to recrute new Club Cranky members.
You can see what we are planning for this year over in the All Racing Talk Forum.
Welcome to the nut house.

Cranky,

Sounds like a madhouse you are in control of there. Definitely count me in on the roadracing action. But you are going to have to put a piece of yellow tape on my ass because I am only use to making left hand turns.

Will keep watching the racing forum for your next conquests.
