New Owner of ERA FIA 2010
Friday 3/7/03 I fly to Pittsburgh, Pa. to inspect my Cobra. This will start a long wait untill warmer weather, so I can reallly drive it. I have finished cleaning out the garage (heated and AC) to make room, and I will paint the wall when the warm temps are here. I have waited for this day for over 20 years when I first went to ERA to visit the plant and met Bob. I am looking foward to being able to meet everyone I have read about at the Reveloution in June at Valley Forge Park. I will be one of the Cooks. The time is short, 4 days, and I now what some of you have experieanced waiting for your car to be finished. I am so happy I chose to get a experienced car. I will post more when I return home. Now starts the list of things to get, car cover, inside & outside, extra tools, and the list goes on and on. I am glad I have some extra money left after this so I can at least get some of the things on the list. I also need to get the FTD order started for April, necklace was out of the question. I hope this will be the start something big. I hope we in the northeast, PA,NJ can get a driving school started at pocano, I attended Racing Adventrures 2 day class at Summit Point, WVA 2 years ago but I need to spend more time at the wheel. Any suggestions?

Corky, I saw that one on Cobra Country (and spent a while trying to figure out how to buy it ). From the description it sounds as if you got one heck of a deal. Hope you enjoy it for many years to come--

Thanks guys. I will post pictures when I return.
rdorman, I will have to wait till next year for the DVSIV because I can't get from work this year, I will be at the Cobra Revolution, the first of many to come, thanks to klayfish and his planning. Hope this becomes as big here as DVS is in Oh.
Thanks again for the kind words.

Corky,
Congrats! I'm sure you will have many happy days fooling around with the car. Mine too is an ERA (the 4th one made some 20 years old) and they are expertly designed and well made. I waited 35 years for mine and 4 years after getting it I still stick my head in the garage each morning amazed by my good fortune. The Cobra will put you in contact with wonderful new, and generally edgy, friends and activities. Enjoy and be safe!!
Cheers, Pete

Thanks,
Pete C., I walk out the garage now and look at the space it will take up next week. I envision what it will look like there.
TP, I remember when I posted before Christmas about us trying to get a discount for ordering 3 from ERA. I am glad I didn't do it at that time. I wanted to order and get exactly what I wanted, but at the price I paid for this and get it now, I still have money left to upgrade later.
Bob, I look foward to meeting the PA, NJ crowd in June and get to know everyone.
U-2, Thanks also the feeling is tremendous.

What's important is that you're happy in the end. Don't think you can go wrong with an ERA. So you're buying the car on Cobra Country? Are you going to change the paint? or Keep it the same? What options are you going to add?

TP,
I was going to replicate the Allen Grant Yellow Cobra with black strips across the hood. I want to get 48 IDA's, but I am not sure I want them on a 302, hope to find and old 289. (Maybe a 351W for more acess to hp and torque). The FIA was what I always wanted, never cared for the BB look, with out starting a new battle BBvsSB, some how anything over 400 is a BB anyway. Hope all the BB people don't shoot holes in my new cobra over the start of this. My personal choice is 289 with webbers, under car exhaust, exit out infront of the wheels, same things as the one I got. Thanks again, and keep all four on the ground untill you get on the track.

Congratulations on the purchase. We test drove 2010 when we were still looking at different kits. That pretty much made up our minds to go with ERA. Since you're gonna be in pittsburgh, feel free to stop by. We are 15 minutes away from downtown. If you want to come by, just send me a PM and i'll send you a phone number.

Good to hear you aren't going with a popular color combination. It's been nice seeing some recent cars in different color combinations. Not that the popular colors look bad, just that sometimes overdone gets boring.
As far as the 289 cars are concerned I agree with you. However I do also like me a well dressed 427 from time to time.
Webbers would look real nice! I'm more of a convenience (& Budget minded guy). Maybe someday!!? For now I'll stick with a single Holley Double Pumper. That's about where my comfort level ends as far as Air Fuel Delivery is concerned.

TP,
I have a friend here who restore auto interiors on Austin Martins and other exotic cars. He has done several Weber instilations and asures me he will be able to do another one on my car. right now the car has a single 4 bl. will have to do for now. Right now the car its is all black, I have toyed with the idea of reversing the Allen Grant color scheme and adding yellow strips across the hood, different to be sure.

That would be nice also! I was originally going to go with Orange Stripe & meatballs on black. & there is a picture out there somewhere of a Unique FIA Cobra that is black with the orange stripe. Looked real nice!
If you have a way to get a nice running set of webbers do it! A very intimidating sight!
I just had another thought speaking of black srtipes on yellow. What a about one of those warm yellows, almost like a Catarpillar Yellow with a black stripe. Would have a very vintage feel to & be different?!

Well She is all Mine.
I got the title and transfer completed and she should arrive home today or Monday. The transport co. called and said she would be picked up today, 6hr drive, Hope it is today. I am waiting with baited breath. I missed the 1:15 flight back home because of line at the airport had to spend 5 hours waiting at the airport. I called SSSnake (Glenn, Jr.) we talked about his build and his tire marks in the driveway. I was unable to take her out for a test drive because of the snow in Pittsburgh and driveway is downhill and twisty. I got home to Trenton airport to find a ticket on my windshield for improper parking, tire over white line of parking lot, at 5:45 AM the lot was snow covered, not line visable. $50 fine. I guess I will have to fight this one.
Now its time to vacum the garage and get it ready for the new occupant. Bright and sunny all weekend I hope she arrives today.
I can't wait.
Thanks again for all the kind thoughts and hope to talk to all of you in person someday.
TP. I think black car with red strip and meatballs would look better than orange, just my $.02. Good luck
