Club Cranky Membership?
For you newbie members of Tri States, Club Cranky is a few renegade members of the original New Jersey Cobra Club called NJ Snakepit. We broke away after the first meeting with Tri States when we decided it was mostly a show and shine club.
If that's what you want it's fine with us. But if you are looking for a little more excitement with your Cobra playtoy than perhaps an outing or two with the Club Cranky crew will be more to your liking. We almost exclusively do Open track/driving schools and on occasion will attend a picnic.
We have members from NJ, CT, NY, MA and just about every other state in the North East.
Our members have Cobras from many major manufacturers, Shelby, ERA, Contemporary, Midstates, FFR, A&C, and others. All of these cars do lots of track time, some exclusively.
We run at Watkins Glen, Lime Rock Park , Summit Point, Pocono, New Hampshire Int'l and on occasion VIR .
Most of our outings are a two day affair and lots of partying after the track activities have concluded for the day.
If you just want to come have a look one day that's OK because partisipation on the track is not required but I guarantee after one ride in one of our faster Cobras you may be hooked.
In January we will publish our list of possible outings for the year, a possible 10-12 track events but we usually settle in on about 6-7 where we all get together.
All are invited to come hang out for the day even if you just want to park your car. We don't even care if you want to wax it. Remember sooner or later you just might get tired of the show circuit and cruising, they're are other options.
Here are a few members cars
Look for our schedule at www.clubcranky.com

I plan on racing with you guys a little next year. I wanted to get to know the car this year and work some of the bugs out first. The only thing I am wondering about is my single hoop rollbar.

Roll bar
I have seen quite a few Cobras running this year with the single hoop. It seems like the Cobra single hoop rollbar flap had died out a little this year. Not many cars at the driving schools wind up on their roofs, those that do are usually being overdriven by inexperienced overenthused younger drivers.
When you go out to the track LISTEN to your instructor and heed his advise and you will have no problems.
Way too many Cobra drivers are being scared of track driving for no good reason.
On these pages we have all read about more Cobra drivers being killed on the street rather than the track where it is much safer.
Hope to meet you next year.
Professor Cranky

Sir Cranky is correct. Though I am now an inactive member of Club Cranky, I still managed to make two open track events this year, both at Pocono. PDA gave me no troubles whatsoever about only having one roll bar. The only down side is that I am not allowed to carry an instructor. What I would recommend is riding shotgun in an instructors car first, then when you run, the instructor will follow you. I rode shotgun in an instructors car, and it was a terrific learning tool. I could concentrate fully on the line he was taking and what he was doing.
Like he said, cars rarely wind up on their roof. I have only seen it once, and that was done by an early 20's kid with a brand new BMW M3 (less than 500 miles on it), who had NO experience at all. Thought he was playing 2Fast 2Furious and got in way over his head. The instructors basically threw out his buddies too, who all left with tail tucked between their legs.
If you drive with your head instead of your balls, it'll be the most fun you ever have with the Cobra. Hope to see you out there (and me too for that matter )
Steve

I WILL be there. Tom, is your car running? If so, we are taking a cruise the day after Thanksgiving in Hunterdon. We will be meeting at the green in Morristown.

That Diasio must be a blast to race. I couldnt imagine.
Tom...I dont mind driving to Pocono or Lime Rock, as a matter of fact, I drove to Lime Rock and parked the car on the back stretch during the Rolex race this year. On a trip to the "Glen" I would be very happy to hitch a ride on that trailer. That is generous, thanks.
