Tony,

Bill scouted out a route on a map which, he mentioned, would take us up by Colesville, NJ and from there we may head up to the Hawks Nest and beyond.

Roscoe-
I'm definetely in for Sunday. There's a chance (a small chance) that I might be able to go Sat., but not sure yet. I'll post here again before 9 tomorrow morning if I can make it.

A little breakfast and coffee followed by a foliage run sounds perfect. Who else is in for Sunday?

Colesville is just below High Point State Park and the Hawk's Nest is just down the road from me. Yousaid your planning on leaving at about 10:30AM. Roscoe, I'll call you sometime after 9AM and maybe we can meet either in Colesville or at High Point State Park.

Is anyone still up for Sunday? I'll check this thread tomorrow morning and see who is around. I was thinking of heading out around 10:30 or 11. Don't care where we go, just looking for a nice drive

I'll go. When and where. Roscoe wanted to go to Lambertville and Frenchtown. Using nice Hunterdon back roads. The options are endless. I have a good map, and a pretty good knowledge of Hunterdon back roads. Let me know where you want to meet. I am outside Morristown so that is easiest for me. We could also meet off of rte 78 at the Oldwick exit. Whatever is best for everyone.

Roscoe/BR-
That sounds fine. I can meet you guys there at 11. Anyone bringing their wives? Mine wants to come, but doesn't want to be the only one.

Also- How far west of 287 is that rest stop? (Just trying to figure out how much time I need to leave to get there.)

My wife and Toms wife are coming

Rest stop is a few miles. It's just a pullover for trucks, not much else. No more than 5 minutes past I would say. We'll wait for you.

Roscoe & BR-
What happened to you guys? I was behind BR going down 611 and pulled over for a minute to check something out because I heard (and saw in my rear view mirror) a bolt bouncing down the pavement and wanted to be sure that it wasn't from my car (it wasn't). It must have been on the road and I just ran it over, but given Tim's problem, I was a little paranoid and stopped to check everything out.

Anyway, after about 5 minutes I pulled back out on the road, thinking that maybe the nice guys that you are would have pulled over and waited for me , but I didn't see you anywhere. Where'd you go?

I drove around for a little while looking for you guys, then when the sky started getting dark, I decided that I'd better head for home. Jumped on 202, but it was bumper to bumper, so I jumped off that, got on 413, then back to 611 and onto 78. Made it home about 10 minutes before the rain

How'd you guys make out?

Bill- thanks for the info (even if late ). And it was a great day for a drive.

Sorry Mike. We stopped. About a mile and a half down the road. I swear we were there for at least ten to fifteen minutes. We thought you stopped for gas. After 10 to 15 we thought you turned down Rte 32 or took another way. We drove through Frenchtown and headed back home from there.

It was good meeting you and your wife. Hopefully we can get back out again before Winter sets in. Awesome day!

ADD: I think what happened, by the time we realized you werent behind us it was probably more than 1 mile...could have been more than 3 or 4 miles...thats why it took you so long to catch up.

Mike,

Too bad we got disconnected. We did wait for awhile. After BR and I split in Frenchtown, we looked for a place to park and walk around. It was just too crowded so I got back on 32 North and we found a nice little restaurant on the river. We ate al fresco watching the river and the custom cars go by. Food was pretty good. Name was something like Indian Rock Inn.

We took off from there and headed north on 611 to 78. Was a little damp coming home but whatever rain fell or was falling was not falling on us. Got home around 5:30. Nice day all around.

Sorry I lost you guys, especially since I was starving- didn't eat breakfast before we left and didn't eat "lunch" until 5 when I got home.

It was a great day for a ride though. With all the old muscle cars and rods cruising around it was better than being at a car show. Around every corner there was a nice car coming at you.

Maybe the warm weather will continue a little longer. . .
