Make up date for rained out CRII is July 10th. Details...
I've gotten numerous positive responses about making Saturday, July 10th the date for our second try at holding a local Cobra gathering. I think I've already had about 20 people say they'd be there. So it will be, nice and simple. Here's what we've got.
The borough of Newtown has invited us to be a part of their 4th of July celebration, called First Fourth. There is a parade through town that starts at 10:30. So if you want to get up early, we'll meet in Washingtons' Crossing Park at 9:30 am, same spot as we did for CRII. We'll cruise over to Newtown, only a 15 minute ride, for the parade. It ends before noon.
We'll then leave the festival and return to Washingtons' Crossing park around noon. Those who don't want to be in the parade (or can't get up early enough ) can meet us at the park. We'll hold our own cookout lunch there. The park is providing us the same HUGE lot and were happy to invite us back. My wife and I will provide the meat, soda, utensils and dessert. If people would like to bring a bag of chips, pretzels, potato salad or whatever, or volunteer to help man the grills, that would be great. Just let me know. We'll stay in the park for just a few hours, so we can enjoy lunch.
We'll then line up around mid-afternoon and take off. We're still hammering out final details, but I think we may go on a nice long poker run. It will include 5 stops at local points of interest. The last stop will be Goodnoes' restaurant, locally famous for their ice cream. If you want to hang out, we will stay there for dinner. Goodnoes is in the same town as the First Fourth festival, so we can rejoin the festival if we wish (we will have secured parking either at the festival or possibly a private location). At 9pm, there is a large fireworks display, which will be visible from either Goodnoes' or wherever we wind up in that area!!
No registration forms, no fees, nothing. This is totally free. This way, if it rains again.. ...it won't be a big deal. No caterer to cancel, no lost money. All I ask is that you let me know as early as possible if you are coming and how many of you there will be, so that I can make sure we buy enough food. Also, if you can help man the grills or plan to bring a bag of chips, etc... let me know.
Hope to see you there!!
Steve

Klayfish . . . .
Wanted to go to CR II last week, wasn't the rain that scared me away, it was one of those mind altering migraines again.
Klayfish, you can count on me to man one of those grills for you, I am definately in.
Heak, I'll even bring some chips too........

Steve:
There is a 25/75 chance CSX4349 will be ready. If so I will bring it, rain or shine. If not, you can still count on me coming. The least I can do is a little cooking.

Thanks to BostonianNU, here are some pics of last Sunday.
http://stoked.cc/cobra/albums/cobrarevolution6-8-04/index.htm There were some Revolutionary War reinactors there. By time I made it to my truck to get my camera, he was gone. I know Mike Holt got a photo, did anyone else?
I've now confirmed the date of July 10th. I sent out an e-mail to everyone, but if you didn't get it, in a nutshell...
The make-up itself is in the same place, same time as last weekend. WC Park, starting around noon. If you want to participate in the Newtown First Fourth parade, we'll meet at the park at 9:30am, and be back by noon. After lunch, we're probably going to head for a poker run. Never done one before, I'm excited about it. More fun than going to sit in another parking lot for a show. The run will end at Goodnoes' restaurant in Newtown (like we were supposed to do last weekend). If you want to hang for dinner, we'll eat there. Then we can either rejoin the festival, which is a few blocks away (we will have secure, and possible totally private, parking), or hang where we are. If you can stay late, there is a large fireworks display at 9pm. I can't thank Corky and Turnpike Boy enough for helping out on the cruise, now turned poker run. I'll ante up a diaper, a burp cloth and a rattle for the jackpot.
No registration, no fees. Just give me a head count if you're coming, and if can man the grills or are willing to bring a single bag of chips/pretzels/pasta, potato salad. Courtesy of Chuck Habels' daughter, we'll also have free Cobra Revolution II window stickers, self adhesive.
Hope to see you there.
Steve

ERA649,
About the pipe bluing, "BlueJob" or "Blue BeGone" is supposed to remove the blueing with lots of elbow grease, and Kreem "Blue Shield" is supposed to inhibit it.
Good meeting you at CR-II.

Rob,
Absolutely, we are still 100% on!! The forcast is looking great! The crowd seems like it's going to be pretty big. I'd say we'll have 30 Cobras and 60 people easily. The agenda is set, we've got an awesome poker run planned. The prize is a 50/50. Half goes to the winner, the other half goes to Kyle Petty's "Victory Junction Gang Camp" for ill children.
The rest of the agenda is at www.midatlanticcobras.com
See ya there!!!!

Great event
To Steve and all those that helped at CRII.5 thank you very much for what turned out to be a great event (would have been better for me had my Cobra been there!). I for one had a great time and enjoyed connecting faces to names.

Josh,
It was good to meet and talk to you too. Sorry you were carless. With Steve and Kara moving, his current mishap I hope we can plan a fall event when the weather is not quite so hot in the afternoon. Nice to meet you and talk.
