Default Where were you guys?

Last Monday Nov. 8, three of the original Tri States members made the tow to LRP CT. for a day of Open track. Nobody else from Tri States showed up. Don't you guys ever do any high speed cruising?
We had one FFR Cobra from NY and that was it as far as Cobras go. Four Mustangs from our group, Bill ***********, John McMahon, Terry Shank and Ken Walder all pounded their Mustang Cobras and except for high speed Bill ,all kept their wheels on the track.

I know I sound like a broken record but just when are you "performance guys" ever gonna give those Cobras a good workout?

Zero to sixty to Wendy's just don't cut it, if you ain't gonna track em might just as well be driving a Yugo.

I am bringing my Yugo to the track next year then, the extra wax should help it cut the air real well.

I expect to be put into the racer group as I can handle this beast and have the understeer down pat.

Those who are into racing are probably interested in looking for a group dedicated to racing not talking..

Turk,

While I normally don't get involved with this t.i.t. for t.a.t. crapola, as my old boss used to tell me:

"less is more" .........

Either you get it, or you don't.

Enough said.

NFN Turk but who is talking about racing? We are just trying to get interest in Open track for Cobra owners. If your gonna own a very fast car why not drive it fast in the confines of a safe race track?
Since most but not all Cobra owners are old farts like you and me it doesn't make sense to try and compete in REAL racing with much younger guys who are more adept at high speed car control. Also there are cars much cheaper than replica Cobras that perform better too.

BTW we seem to be getting more and more Cobras coming to some Open track events but not many CC members.

Is there anytime during the day when you can take a passenger for a run?

Yes its true Blue Rooster and I were blocked out of LRP by a lack of knowledge the event.

Next year we should put in more effort early in the year.

Don't you guys ever work? It's almost impossible for me to get a week day off. I might be able to go up on a weekend sometime next year.

The correct way to play the working game is make the most money in the shortest period of time, not to work eveyday.

Chaplin,
None of us are rich guys, when we take a day off we don't get paid.........at least I don't.

This is how it works for the guys who wanna Open track......
You find an event early in the season and you sign up right away, you book a hotel, arrange for a trailer if you don't have one.
You put that date on your calender and show it to the wife/girlfriend and remind them that day is reserved for you. Tell all your best friends what you are doing that day so somebody can't screw with your plans by having a wedding, picnic, car show, birthday party on the same day.

I plan 6-8 events every summer for Open Track the rest of the days we go wherever the wife wants. She ain't invited to track days.(wives/girlfriends get bored at track events) It's guy stuff so leave them home.

If you guys are serious about running, check in a www.clubcranky.com where we just talk about track stuff.

I work, I bust my ass in the IT arena which ain't fairing too well right now. I take vacation days to go and be a pretend race car driver.

I have 24 yrs. in the same company, next year I get an extra week's vacation. I am planning on getting married next year, what a coincidence. I can go on a honey moon and not have it eat into my track time.....I hope.

Its tough to get weekend events at any racetrack. PDA's October event at Watkins Glen is always on a weekend, most others are during the week, plus tracks cost more on weekends.

Since I am currently self employed, I try to fill in the days that I am taking off for the track. if I'm not working, it's costing me money (either way you look at it). I budget a few vacation days per year just as if I was working for someone else........If your not the boss, why not just schedule a few extra vacation days and come on out with the "Club Cranky" gang...........

Bill S.

PS: yes, I know, I'm rambling at the moment.....But it has been a long day, and it's not quite over for me yet.....

Sigh....I tried. More than once. But only got one successful run at a crapy track this year. But it's still fun. I did try to get in to LRP at the last minute, but also got turned away.

I encourage you guys to come give it a try. Once you do, you'll wish you had done it a long time ago.
