Seem to think the same meeting place as last year in Morristown would work.

As I recall it was the bank parking lot next to Jimmy's.

CB

PS. Same route as last year or does someone have a better way? I still like to avoid the major highways as much as possible

Morristown works for me. Lets make it the first meeting place, but lets make the 2nd meeting on rte202 somewhere on the same side as southbound so as to not have to keep doubling back. any thoughts on a nice parking landmark on the south bound side?

Second meeting spot options;

The meeting place options after leaving 287 south exit 17 on to 202 south are as follows;
1-Bridgewater police station (not my idea of a good meeting spot)
2- Just south of route 22 Mall with Barns and Noble, TGI Fridays other stores and possiable deli.
3- Mall on souths side of route 28 (Somerville Circle) with Panera Bread and Staples.
4- Gas station at First Ave Raritan
5- Ruby Tuesday / Home Depot mall
6- Strip Mall about a Mile south of the Home Depot
7- Gas Station
8- Second Strip mall
9-Bank of America branch bank.

Pick the best option

I went for a ride today and worked out a nice cruise from the second meet up place on 202 to Washingtons Crossing. I rode shotgun making notes while my son drove the entire route. The ride is mostly thru farm / horse country with very few lights, no pot holes on county roads, and yes all the roads are paved. Let me know if you want to try this route.

Cruise directions form Route 202 to CR IV

Driving Mileage Drive Time
minutes

Continue on Route 202 South exit left at traffic light 4.6 5:20
at the Chub Way / South Branch Road exit this road will turn into
South Branch Road - Route 567 in about 1/2 mile continue to stop
Sign.

At stop sign make left hand turn to continue on Route 567 to 2.1 2:48
Stop sign

At stop sign turn right on to Amwell Road Route 514 go slow next 0.4 :45
turn is a left on to Wertsville Road .4 mile

Continue on Wertsville Road to stop sign make quick left and right 1.3 1:45
turn to continue on Wertsville Road Route 602

Continue on Wertsville Road Route 602 to Route 607 on left 4.9 6:50

Make let onto Route 607 Rileyville Road name changes to 4.6 6:00
Hopewell Wertsville Road continue to stop sign

Turn right on Route 518 Broad Street 0.3 :48

Bear right at bend in road and continue on Route 518 to traffic 4.5 7:12
light at the intersection of Route 579 make left on Route 579

Continue on Route 579 Harbourton - Rocktown Road to 4.5 6:00
Route 546 make right on Route 546

Continue on Route 546 to Delaware River ( just before crossing 1.5 1:54
river there is a Gulf gas station at the intersection of Route 546
and Route 29)

Continue straight across Route 29 and cross the Delaware River 1 1.36
make right turn on to Route 32 Park entrance is on left

Totals 29.7 miles 41 min.

the strange numbers on each line are the minutes and miles of each segment

C'mon, fess up, did you retire or somethin'? Time AND miles?

How could anyone deny route with that kind of dedication.

I have been thinking about the meeting place on 202...why dont we just keep it at the bagel place. We have been meeting there for years and everyone knows where it is now.

RECAP: north jersey(everyone but Bill, he's taking a shortcut through Canada) meet in Morristown (Chase Bank on 225 South St) @ 10:00am, then Meet at 11:00am on 202 at the bagel place.

Who is meeting where? Headcount?

Unfortunately, I can't make it this time. Sounds like you are going to have a good group going too.

Mike- good job scouting out paved roads this year

Directions to Bagel Garden

Bagel Garden is 5.4 miles south of Route 287 exit 17. Bagel Garden is on left r after the 5th traffic light.
1st traffic light is First Avenue
2nd traffic light is Ortho pharma
3rd traffic light is Home Depot
4th traffic light is Millstone Road ( Commerce Bank on left)
After 4th light stay in left lane
5th traffic light River Road
Make left after 5th light on to side street next to Bagel Garden (pink building) once you see the Raceway Gas Station you should see the left turn from the left lane. If you pass the Bank of America turn around you went to far.

I will be there about 10:45

chaplin,

After last year I had to double check the route, i have to say it's a Cobra route no lights and nice country.

Going to be knee deep in a clutch replacement, so it looks like I'm out.

Jamie posted a couple of threads earlier on but have not heard from him lately. So how many are we expecting? Also was wondering if Steve Klayman has cashed anyones check. He has been sitting on mine for the past two months.

Jim,
Hope I didn't cause any issues with peoples' bank accounts. We generally wait until the last minute before depositing the checks. That way, if someone suddenly decides they cannot attend, we can return their check. That happened a few times the first year, and we found it easier to just hold the checks. My wife is actually depositing them today.

Once again we're going to be at the mercy of the weather. But if it holds out, I'm expecting the crowd to be about the same size as it's been the past several years. Probably 40something Cobras and close to 80-90 people. We've got about 20-22 registrations in our hands, and traditionally about another 20 or so cars show up the day of the event. So it's following the exact pattern of other years.

Be safe driving and we'll see ya there!!!

Steve

I've heard from me!

Been in Canada this week doing my best to confuse the Canadians.

I was going to be a game time decision for this weekend (which does not matter anymore)

I am definitely out for June 10.

Anyone in the northern NJ area want to get together later Saturday afternoon if the weather clears at some central location for a quick burger or something?

Mike,

Never cleared up for the ride on Saturday.

My POS car is now in pieces. Making a couple of minor adjustments.
