anyone know how to rent a cobra?

Hello. I will admit I do not own a cobra. My fiancee however is obsessed with them!! We are getting married in October and as his wedding gift, I am trying to find out how I can rent a Cobra from somewhere that we can drive from our wedding ceremony to our wedding reception. Thus we will only need the car for 1 hr, 2 hrs max.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really love to surprise him with this.

There are a couple of Cobras out there for rent.
.....or you could give one to your fiancee as a wedding present.

Something like this happened a few months ago and worked out fine.
You may want to let members know what area you are getting married in
and proceed from there. Good luck, and if you can come up with a Cobra

I think it is wonderful that you want to fulfill his dream of driving such a great car, however, I believe you might want to reconsider the timing.

a.) A one hour drive would only leave him drooling for more.
b.) Driving one of these high powered cars requires full attention and focus; something most men would not be able to do on their wedding day.
c.) Even if he was able to get his head together for the drive, would you really want his energies directed to this car or to you???
d.) Finally, these cars are tons of fun, but because of their high HP and light weight, they are dangerous, especially to a novice driver.

How about this as a possible alternative.

Prior to making my final decision to own one of these cars, I rented one. BUT...it was under the watchful eye of trained instructors on a race track, under very controlled conditions. One full day of classroom instruction mixed with track time then back for more instruction. It was a fantastic time that I will always remember. NOTE: I was so stoked after that day, I went out and bought one, so be prepared for that possibility. Anyway, the school is a traveling one called Racing Adventures. Speak with David. Hopefully you can find someone closer to you in Iowa with a Cobra than "davidLee" from Florida to be a nice person.

I also wonder about getting the wedding dress into the car. Try for a Cobra without sidepipes, since they get VERY hot! Not good for the dress or your legs.

I did not find it boring when I got a check for $1,000.00 for the use of my Cobra. I would do it again in a minute if the parties are in a reasonable trailering distance from me.

I think it's a sweet gesture for her husband, and certainly feasible. My dad surprised my husband and me with a 1939 Cadillac from our wedding to reception. If she is fully aware of the cramped quarters, concern for her legs and squishing a big dress in the cockpit, then I say 'go for it'. And it looks like she's in Jersey or such as she posted in that forum. The folks that have done this before seem to think it worked out ok. I bet he could handle driving the cobra/dealing with the bride thing for an hour or so. He'd probably be really cautious and drive carefully, and I'd assume of course that the cobra owner would be on his tail so to speak to oversee it all. If somebody asked to borrow mine, here in Dallas I would consider it. (of course it depends on where they are going, highway/road logisitics, etc.)

My point really was that there are a few of these rent the cobra threads in recent weeks.

I was up in Vermont this past weekend at the Hildene Car show in Manchester Vt. Unfortunately the weather was crap and did not take the car. The real point of the weekend was the drive to Vermont and back. Could not happen with the forecast.

How was CR IV? Have not seen any pictures yet.

I spoke with Doug briefly. Nice guy. His was the lone Cobra standing at the show. Nice looking FFR with a color combo I had never seen before. He was on the verge of putting it back into the trailer if another drop of rain hit it.

I would have not had such a trailer. My intention was to drive my car up, park it, and go look at all the other cars.

His was the only car in that class actually at the show. If a real big block 427 showed up (mine) it would have won easily as it isn't green Chaplins would have come in second because it is green with a BB (he chickened out of the rain also )

Amazingly enough a number of very nice antique and vintage cars showed up for the event, driven onto the field, even though rain was at times beating down on the cars.

Dave is his name not Doug, and it's my understanding it is not an FFR, but a slightly extended wheelbase car......Have not seen it up close yet, but I will be at the Summer Run in Lake George in July......

Yes, he lived on Long Island, builds houses for the rich and famous, got tired of the Hamptons and now build winter homes for the rich and the famous in and around Stratton Mountain.
