Default Any boat guys near Delran, NJ?

Hi guys; I'm looking at possible purchase of a 42' Wellcraft Excalibur - big ol' wavecrusher - located in Delran, NJ. I've been in touch with the seller and I was wondering if anyone was real close by who would be willing to look her over for me (anything from an informal boat person looksee to a qualified inspection) before I fly up myself to close the deal. I would be willing to pay for any associated expenses, fees or costs including as much time on the water as you can handle if you ever end up down in this neck of the woods (St. Lucia)

I would find a qualified surveyor in the area to look at the boat if you are serious and ready to pull the trigger. Just a quick look will only tell you of the cosmetic condition. Many clean / new looking boats have hidden / reel serious problems such as delaminated or wet stringers etc especially in a wave crushing boat. I have bought and sold a number of boats and it's money well spent.
Go to this site and ask who is recommended in the area. http://www.thehulltruth.com/
Good luck
Peter

Surveyors have a website. You can find one close by, and have them do an in water quickie survey. That's the direction I would take, and if I run across the website I will post it........i2f

http://www.cmsurveyors.com/

I would have them do a quickie in water survey first, and go from there.

Have you tried Bay Island Yachts in St. Maarten? The cover the whole Caribbean, and are honest as can be. They made my deal happen when the Previous Owner & I were stuck on numbers

Thanks guys. I am a big believer in investing in a survey before buying any used boat. The owner told me over the phone that someone else had comissioned a surveyor and the boat got a green light - no water intrusion into the laminate, hull, transom and stringers sound, etc. He also said he can''t email me a copy of the report because the surveyor would only release it to the person who initially hired him.
I was just hoping, I guess, for an objective go or no go from someone in the area before getting in too deep and finding out its not worth it. Its the right advice, though, and I will go ahead and source a surveyor to look it over.
